Hard Top Convertible Sedan in Geneva Motor Show . . . . . .
Latest CC is the four tops !
Fans of open-air motoring will love this new 407 - because it's got a folding roof! The latest innovation from French coach-builder Heuliez, the unique Peugeot - called the Macarena - has four doors and a four-piece glass top.
It debuts at next month's Geneva Motor Show, and the individual panels stack together and slide neatly behind the bootlid in only 30 seconds. However, cutting the roof off such a big car has serious consequences, so the firm has installed a strengthening beam behind the front seats to brace the chassis.
This addition doesn't only benefit the newcomer's structural rigidity, though, because it also houses a pair of LCD television screens for the rear passengers. Heuilez - which builds the folding metal roof mechanism for the hugely popular Peugeot 206 CC - is also said to be in discussions with other car manufacturers about using the technology.
Although US firm ASC unveiled a four-door soft-top concept based on the Chrysler 300C at last year's Detroit Motor Show, the Macarena is the first saloon to feature a solid sliding roof.

Looking at the rear seat head room, it's more like another 4 door coupe . . .

I'm thinking this is going to end up spinning off into other vehicles. BMW, Lexus, Volvo, or Mercedes might take this idea and "perfect" it safety wise.
Also, insurance companies would have to add another vehicle type to their policies since there's no "4 door convertible" yet

I always loved the idea of 4 door convertibles when done properly. Reinforcements are obviously a must. I look forward to seeing 5 series GS or E class drops (probably CLS due to body type) within ten years. May sound crazy now but just watch.
