A special edition of the Audi TT will be offered in what the German automaker is calling its final year of production. The 2006 TT Special Edition will be available in both coupe and roadster versions, and will arrive in showrooms this spring. Audi will produce 99 Special Edition coupes and 99 Special Edition roadsters to mark the 99th anniversary of the first Tourist Trophy race on the Isle of Man in 1907.
The TT got its moniker from the legendary Tourist Trophy race. The coupe and roadster come standard with a 3.2-liter V6 producing 250 hp and 236 ft.-lbs. of torque. Audi’s six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive are standard.
What makes the Special Edition special? The car will get unique paint and interior trim. The coupe is available in Misano Red, Ocean Blue, and Light Silver paint, all combined with a black roof and black leather interior. The roadster is available only in Quartz Gray with a black power roof and an Amber Red baseball-optic leather interior. Both models will have an engraved badge on the glove box acknowledging these TTs as “1 of 99” Special Editions.
Standard equipment includes heated front seats, Homelink, and a premium Bose audio system with six-disc CD changer. The only option available is satellite radio with a choice of XM or Sirius. The 2006 TT Special Edition coupe starts at $43,539; roadster models start at $46,539. A destination charge of $720 for both vehicles is not included in the base price.
The question is will this Special Edition really be the last TT? Time will tell, but we’ve already seen spy art of a next-generation TT. Maybe Audi meant this Special Edition is the last of this generation TT.

seems pretty nice, but i've never been a HUGE fan of the TTs. they just seem kinda boring to me. if i were spending the money, i'd rather have something like a miata or s2000.

yea same here. I do like the two-tone though(lol...funny we have a thread talking about this). But it seems like someone already did this. Maybe some aftermarket company.

The TT is pretty much on the way out...at least here in the American market. Audi did not bother to bring one this year to the DC Auto Show. The Audi people at the show confirmed it will probably be dropped later this year. I had mixed feelings about the TT myself. I never was a fan of the car's bathtub-like exterior styling, but at least it didn't have that awful oversize grille that Audi fitted to most of the rest of their line. Inside, the styling and materials was not one of my favorites either but it had some interesting designs and trim options......like the package with the baseball-stiching on the leather. It's nice that this newest ( and maybe last ) TT will have another version of that baseball-stitching inside....that was one of their better-looking trims.

I love the basball glove interior, but I don't think that's available for the TT coupe , only the convertible, & I only like the coupe version of the TT, but that baseball glove interior is awesome
