huh? as far as luxury, RX is more luxurious and more expensive (per sale) than 3 series...

to add to that, there is good reason 3 series, Acura TL are called "entry" luxury sedans...

I'm glad to see Chrysler bringing out an Imperial concept based on the 300C. Chrysler is already offering base and high-performance versions of this car.....it currently lacks a super-luxury version. This new Imperial could fill that void.

Yes, they are SUV's, but at least the former 2 are car-based, I think Forbes define cars in a general sense that includes all vehicles, just like Car and driver, or germancarfans etc. won't limit their topics to just cars, not SUV's . . . I always look at the RX & the likes as a raised station wagon, anyway They are not real trucks with real off-road capabilities nomatter what someone chose to define them.

They are definetely luxury vehicles. The original poster was wondering how the SUV's were classified as cars, but I think the word cars here is supposed to mean vehicles. Wonder why they didn't just use that, or even automobiles.

Goes to show that the vaunted 3-series, with its different variants, is matched and in fact outsold by around 650 vehicles in 2005 (97,001 > 96,358) by the RX. No wonder at the RX level, there is at least one genuine variant (RX 400h), plus a special edition or two (Thundercloud, etc.)

The TL goes to 70,000, the G35 to 62,000, and the ES this year to 60,000. This being the last year for the ES, trending downwards in sales but still a top seller.

So Lexus, the #1 luxury brand in America, has 2 of the top 10 best sellers (#1 and #5); Cadillac has 3 in the top 10; 2 also for Acura...

Maybe one day the IS will enter the list.
