ah yes, it is that magic trick that adds 50hp and 5-10mpg at the same time... oh, dont they call that 400h already?

Powertrain has nothing to do with platform in reality, as platforms can be designed (and are) to accept different kinds of powertrain configurations.

Of course, RX version would be optimized for premium fuel, so it will actually have 280hp...
Reconfiguring platforms to accept a bunch of different power options is expensive. I agree that it'll probably get the ES version of the power combo.

They do. But I want the one that doesn't come stickered at 45k-50k. If I could have an RX350 with the same hp and mpg as the 400h at 10k - 15k less... kind of a no brainer to me.

The 2007 RX 350 will start production in January 2007 in Cambridge, Ontario Canada.

Just a little freshening up on the front end and the rear end...no new alloys and the new H.P. is to increase by 45 to 270h.p and 251 lb.ft torque. Std equipment is now 6 disc. NO new colors.

Hope this helps you guys..

Do you mean that the 2008 RX350 will start production in January 2007?

Or that the 2007 RX350 will start production in January 2006?

Thanks. So it looks like the RX350 won't get direct injection. Regardless, it should be a pretty fast SUV, probably as fast as a GS300.

I assume that the 2007 Highlander is getting the GR engine too?

Yes as well as the Rav 4 the new ES350 due in march 07. The new ES330 will not be your father's Lexus.....280 h.p., dual exhaust, possible 8 speed automatic, panoramic roof option, real navigation system......consider it the Big Sister of the IS....looks like a European Avalon.

The real kicker is going to be the new LS600 (ls430 Hybrid)...0-60 in 5.0sec. due in Sept. 07.

Lexus is now poised to become the #1 Luxury nameplate by 2010....everything from now on will follow the L-Finesse design...started with the new GS series. Also 2007 will see a convertible IS series coupe.

Hang on to the future of Lexus...it's going to be fast and furious.

thats why you dont re-engineer platforms, you build it in from start. RX can get GR engine with dual injection, but it probably wont due to cost reasons. I am sure Toyota makes all of their platforms compatible with their powertrain options (RX can get AZ, MZ and GR engines for example), which could go into that platform. And future engines, dont significantly differ in packaging for those very reasons. It is really not complex math.

270hp only, not 280? and why is that? If ES is getting 280hp engine, Avalon has 268hp engine, Rav4 is getting 269hp engine and RX should be getting 280hp engine, if you catch my drift. If you dont, then you probably dont know what you are talking about :-).

Wow you sure have lots of insider information at hand. Thanks for sharing. Just curious... how high up in the Lexus totem are you at? Or what's your source of info? Really appreciate your sharing all this providing that your source is a credible one.

Love the awesome specs you've provided for the next ES...but what do you mean by a "real navigation system" and an "European Avalon" (is here such a model there)? 8-speed auto sounds awesome...hope it'll become a reality.

Is the RX350 getting the 6AT or sticking with a 5AT?
