350.2 km/h: The Fastest Sedan In The World

The world’s fastest street-legal sedan comes yet again from BRABUS. With a top speed of 350.2 km/h (217.6 mph) the BRABUS E V12 Biturbo, powered by a 640-hp / 471-kW twin-turbo twelve cylinder engine, set a new world record during the ‘auto motor und sport’ magazine high-speed tests in Nardo, Italy.

With this record, the small-series production E V12 ultra-performance sedan, based on the current Mercedes W 211 E-Class series, follows in the footsteps of the legendary BRABUS E V12 based on the predecessor E-Class models of the W/S 210 series. In October of 1996 this 582-hp / 428-kW BRABUS automobile found entry into the Guinness Book of World Records as the ‘world’s fastest sedan’ with an electronically limited top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).

The 2005 model year BRABUS E V12 Biturbo is powered by a BRABUS SV 12 increased*displacement engine, which is ‘surgically implanted’ into the confines of the E V12’s modified engine bay. The twin-turbo twelve-cylinder engine normally powers the current Mercedes 600 models. Installation of a new longer-stroke crankshaft milled from one piece, precision-balanced piston rods and larger pistons with correspondingly increased bore results in a displacement increase from normally 5.5 to 6.3 liters. In addition the BRABUS engine is modified with sport camshafts, re-machined cylinder heads, a stainless-steel high*performance exhaust with sport metal catalysts and four tailpipes, and with newly programmed engine electronics.

The engine of the BRABUS E V12 Biturbo delivers an enormous maximum power output of 640 hp / 471 kW at 5,100 rpm, and an even more impressive peak torque of 1,026 Nm (756.7 lb.-ft.) , available from a low 1,750 rpm.

The numbers turned in by the BRABUS E V12 Biturbo on the Nardo test track speak for themselves: In addition to reaching a top speed of 350.2 km/h the world’s fastest sedan also demonstrated excellent sprinter qualities: 4.5 seconds from von 0 - 100 km/h, 11.7 seconds from 0 - 200 km/h and 30.6 seconds to 300 km/h are unique for sedans.

To ensure optimal lubrication – an absolute must at this level of performance – the engine, the special five-speed automatic transmission and the BRABUS rear- axle locking differential are all operated exclusively with high-tech lubricants from BRABUS technology partner ARAL.

The enormous performance also necessitates the use of special tires: The multi-piece BRABUS Monoblock VI light-alloy wheels in sizes 8.5Jx19 on the front axle and 9.5Jx19 in the rear are shod with high-performance tires from BRABUS technology partner Pirelli in sizes 255/35 ZR 19 in front and 285/30 ZR 19 on the rear axle.

The suspension of the BRABUS E V12 Biturbo is sporty yet comfortable with a ride height lowered by some 30 millimeters compared to its production brethren. BRABUS sport sway bars support the sporty handling with excellent ride comfort and large safety reserves.

Naturally BRABUS also equips the new E V12 Biturbo with a special high-performance brake system. The system is calibrated to the electro-hydraulic SBC brake system of the E*Class. It consists of 375-millimeter (14.8 inches) ceramic discs with 12-piston aluminum calipers on the front axle and six-piston calipers on 355-millimeter (14.0 inches) vented and perforated steel discs in the rear.

Excellent aerodynamic properties are essential at the high speeds so effortlessly attained by the new BRABUS E V12 Biturbo. BRABUS conducted extensive wind tunnel testing to ensure highest aerodynamic efficiency: The BRABUS front bumper with integrated spoiler and carbon lip not only looks striking, it also reduces lift on the front axle, thus further optimizing directional stability at high speeds. Its aerodynamic counterpart in the rear is the BRABUS spoiler lip for the trunk lid, which noticeably reduces lift on the rear axle at high speeds.

The BRABUS side sills give the sedan a lower, sleeker appearance. They also come with another interesting feature: Pushing a button on the keyless-entry remote or pulling on the door handles activates entrance lights integrated into the underside of the sills. These lights illuminate the ground next to the vehicle and make entering and exiting the vehicle safer. The strikingly styled BRABUS rear apron rounds out the sporty yet elegant exterior design of the BRABUS E V12 Biturbo.

The cockpit of the BRABUS E V12 Biturbo exudes a special ambiance: The four-door is equipped with an exclusive BRABUS fully leather interior crafted from a combination of especially soft yet durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara. Inserts made from genuine carbon in the dashboard, center console and door panels create a sporty feel. In addition the sedan can be equipped with a state-of-the-art BRABUS multimedia package with DVD player and LCD screens integrated into the back of the front headrests.

The BRABUS E V12 Biturbo is built in small-series production and starts at 298,000 Euros MSRP.

id spend that much just so that if/when i ever line up at a stoplight with a gallardo, murcielago, F360/430, 575m, [insert random Porsche 911 here], and just about anything short of the "hypercars" (Pagani, Konigsegg, etc...) il be confident that i can whip the pants off them with my (future) family in the car.

I think US$150K - $175K would be a fair price for that car.

FINALLY, this is what I've waited so long for someone to do. The E55, arguably the king of V8 AMG's was only dethroned because MB restricted the V12 bi-turbo to the pig-heavy siblings (I only said they're heavy, I still love every one of them). Seeing how fast the SL and S 65's were, I was holding my breath someone would do this, and by-golly, I'm quite happy.

HELL YEAH!! I'd hit it, it looks menacing, has the documentation to back it up. Sad but on our roads we can't BEGIN to use this power.
Simply fantastic!!

Looks like a marginal improvement in real world acceleration times: 0-100 kph in 4.5 seconds? The car must be severely traction limited. An ordinary E55 goes 0-100 kph in 4.7 seconds.

For that amount of money, why not a supercar AND an E55? The only time you'd be able to fully exploit the Brabus E V12's power is on the track or autobahn - why not take that drive in something a little more suitable, like in an F-car, Noble, or even the Saleen S7?

I guess if money is absolutely no object, then it'd be pretty cool to have the fastest sedan in the world...
