Here is the GhostCar: a super rare 1993 Lexus ES300 5 speed. It's in nearly showroom condition outside, and IS in showroom condition inside. Only 117k original miles. Most Lexus mechanics and salespeople around here have never even heard of one....hehe.

Also including a couple pics of my '92 SC400 which will is actually for sale now... (see below)

Love your SC, but please take off that silly bra.

As for the 5 speed ES300, is it significantly faster than one with an automatic??? I always loved the look of the 2nd gen ES, those double projector beam headlights are really aggressive, along with that low chin bumper. I thought it was better than the very similar looking 3rd gen car, which kind of toned down some of the interesting styling elements on the previous car.

the ES300 5 speed really is a ghost. they simply don't exist! from what ive heard they only made 500 of them. people buy 5 speeds to beat on. not to cruise in, and since the ES isn't built like the LS and in a way are sort of fragile, AND being that you are in MO, that's a car that really has the odds stacked up against it. I wouldn't be surprised if theres only a handful left, yours being the nicest one in existence. what a find man! that's a car you never sell, because youll NEVER see another. very cool!

Fragile? The ES300 is anything but fragile the car is a tank. I doubt only 500 were built I've seen several 5-speed ES's.

not your version. you have a 3rd gen. the 2nd gen were a little fragile. if they are looked after they run forever but if not taken care of they fade away pretty quickly. take it from someone that knows.

and yes, VERY low production for the manual ES. theres a reason most people don't even know they exist. its a ghostly unicorn phantom of a car. sort of like a 2011 GS460. youll never see one.

I own the Camry version there is nothing fragile about the car. It is also a more solid car than my ES especially when it comes to chassis rigidity and suspension. You are the first person I've seen claim the VCV10 platform is fragile.

BTW the 5-speed ES250 is an even more rare car.

Yeah but the ES250 is kind of a lame duck leftover from the 1980's with its square styling. Its kind of like Toyota forgot they can't launch the Lexus line with one car(the LS400), so here's this fancy Japanese spec Camry we've been selling for a few years now. It was obviously a stop gap measure and didn't sell nearly as well as the ES300 which came in late 1991 as a 1992 model.

forgot about the 5 speed ES250.

by fragile I mean compared to LS standards of the day. still more solid than other offerings of the day. should have been more clear about that.

The early LS400's are a bank vault.

Here's a 1993 Camry V6 and 1992 ES300 both with the manual transmission. Yes these are rare but I've seen a few of them being junked over the years so they can't be that rare.

Also saw a 1992 Camry V6 5-speed in the yard car has a dark blue leather interior. Now that is a rare combination.

I owned a five speed ES300 years ago, too. It was funny when I picked it up from dealer once after a service and they came out with a jump box to start it, and then were embarrassed to learn it wouldn't start BC they weren't pushing in the clutch pedal.

From the research I've done, I found about 1300 '92 ES300s with 5 speeds were built, but I was not able to pin down the number of '93 ES300s with a manual. I'm pretty sure it's much fewer, but still no definitive numbers. I've heard estimates from 200 to 800 or so.

In any case, It's a wonderful driving car, and just like new on the inside. I can see why someone would say they are more fragile, esp when looking at the interior designs of these vs the 3rd gen cars, but so far I've not found anything on the car to be fragile.

As for the bra on my SC400, when you want to come over on a weekly basis and clean all the crap that's get on the car from the extremely buggy Missouri seasons, let me know and we'll make it happen. I bought the car this way and found it much easier to leave it and just put some dressing on the bra now and then.
