in these United States, are there cities or states where emission testing is not required? I've tried googling but my skills must be rusty.

Come to SC. They don't perform inspections of any kind here.

DON'T come to GA. They test every year here unless you have a classic car, which I think has to be 20 years old or so....

are you sure its every year? maybe they chaged the law but it used to be if your car was 3 years old or older it had to be tested.

An emission inspection is valid for 12 months OR one registration renewal, by the same owner.

For the 2005 test season, all 1981-2002 model year gasoline powered cars and light trucks (up to 8,500 lbs gross vehicle weight rating) registered in the following counties require an emission inspection: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding, and Rockdale.

VSsc400, it seems its only surrounding Metro counties of Atlanta, not the whole state....

We used to have yearly emmisions inspection with the sniffer here in Florida. A quick visual under the car verified cat presence.

They stopped that a few years ago and now we are free to have whatever the hell we want, literally.

This is paradise. The weather of Cali but with automotive carte blanche. Gotta love it.

There is no emmisions tested at all here in Hawaii.

In some parts of Cali like LA and the Bay, smog checks are required, but in areas like Humboldt County, no smog check is needed unless the car changes hands.

Visual inspection only on wipers, windshield, brakes, etc. here in Missouri. No emissions (at least not in KC yet, they are in STL in some areas) and they don't pop the hood.

If you move to the Kansas side of Kansas City they don't even do an inspection.

Nah we have testing here but its a 3min thing very easy to pass ever old beaters pass. if not give the guy 10bucks & he will pass a semi without cats
