Wow...really had my doubts, but that one straight on side pic blows me away. Amazing vehicle, and the interior in a different color would be awesome. I think I'm starting to get the 4 door coupe thing. Look at the lines...looks like a coupe.

Nice design. The Angles flow so nicely. Reminds me of the first generation SC. It even has the line from the front to the rear like the SC. Also I love the look of the rear.

Nothing wrong with a brown leather interior, but maybe not for an AMG.
A baseball glove brown is appropiate for a luxury oriented car. I also like the Lexus saddle interior for the LS430 & SC430. I won't pick black interior for the SC430 for sure.
To me, black => sporty. Brown/beige/ivory => luxury.

From the pics, it looks like the CLS interior is a little more plush than the E class.
Overall, I prefer the E class over the CLS though.

and i think 80k base is about right too, it's based on the e class, it's hard to get lower than that per mb price setup

The German car fans site states that the base price of the CLS 500, not the AMG version CLS 55, is 67,280 Euros. At todays rate that is $81,600. The base E500 is about $56,000.

You can't really compare pricing in different countries & use the exchange rate to convert them & make a meaningful comparison. The pricing policies for a car model are often different for different countries based on factors such as market conditions, the expected fluctuation of exhange rates, etc.
In other words, one has to compare the MSRP of 2 different models(in this case the E55 & the CLS55) in the same country.
For example, my SC430 has MSRP of Canadian$89K in Oct.02 when I bought it. At the exchange rate then(0.63), it's slightly less than the US price for the exact same car.
But right now, with the exchange rate at 0.75-0.76. it's more expensive buying the exact same SC430 in Canada than in the U.S. due to the depreciation of the U.S. currency. The exchange rate between the U.S. & Canada has changed, but the relative nominal difference in the pricing of Lexus models between the 2 countries remains the same.
