Don’t know if any of you have watched the “Rides” program on TLC. It’s all about hot rods, customized cars, etc. – good show. I just saw a short promo tonight that showed Rod Millen Motorsports transplanting a V-8 (didn’t say what kind, assume a 430 Lex) into a Lexus IS300. Looks to be worth watching.

RMMGS4 has a full writeup in the IS forum. I was about to post there when I saw that he’d already covered it – but didn’t see anything here.

It’ll be on TLC (The Learning Channel – part of Discovery on cable/dish) next Tuesday (Feb. 3) at 9 PM Eastern (8 Central).

Already been done. Teamlexus Europe's IS300's 2JZ was NOT cutting it for them in their tour, they had to pull it out and put an LS430's V8 in. the cars performance was GREATLY improved, if i recall it was capable of a 4.5 second 0-60 among other things.

That (Millen's) car was shown at the New York Auto Show also. There are hopes that T/L management will bite on the concept..............

Damn! You beat me to it. Anyways it should be a really good show. The previous ones have been amazing and putting Lexus in the mix is gonna be great. Dont miss it guys. What happens when you take a typical 200-horsepower V-6 motor out of a new Lexus and drop in a V-8? Major horsepower. That is what race-car phenom and off-road champion Rod Millen will be doing for us. Interestingly enough, Rod is also a world-record holder for the infamous Pikes Peak climb.

We'll follow Rod as he re-engineers the entire car — chassis, suspension, drive train — the whole thing. And because this show will center on a manufacture prototype, there will be a lot of time spent testing on the racetrack. And we don't mean going around in circles; we're talking Willow Springs in Southern California, one of the most difficult rally courses in the United States. With its hairpin turns, chiquains and long straightaways, Willow Springs is challenging to any driver.

I thought the IS 300 had a in-line 6. The 2JZ-GE? Or am I misinformed?

I CANT BELIEVE THEY SWAPPED THE MOTOR FOR A V8, I CANT WAIT TO SE IT, I NEVER MISS RIDES OR MONSTER GARAFGE ,OR AMERICAN CHOPPERS.

i saw the commerical.. Its already been saved in my phone as an alarmed event.. Can't wait to see.. Finally something other than civics on these Car shows.

By the way this "rides" show is pretty cool.. I saw Lawyer Meloy's (?spelling?) H2 get hooked up.. and it was sweet.. and i usually don't like H2's
