Smashed Window
My car got broken into this morning at a "supposedly" secured parking lot.
Parked the car as usual at 7am; got a call around 10am notifiying me that my car was broken into. Apparently the window was broken at around 8am, as another tendant had saw it...... They smashed my driver side front window....
They ripped out some lights..... Things missing were my sunglasses; my parking pass; and a bunch of my gas receipts....
Anyways.... Does anyone know how much it will cost for a replace window and where you would recommend to have it fixed?
It's friday... so I doubt anything can be done until Monday next week.....

sorry to hear that man.. who the eff steals gas receipts?? "muhahah tax write off" Anyways I can get you a deal on getting that repaired. I left you my contact number in your PM box. Don't claim though ICBC it will be cheaper to fix than to repair it yourself, not by much but at least something. Gimme a shout if you need anything

So, I finally went to clean the glass out of my car yesterday, as I couldn't stand to see my car looking like that any longer......
After cutting myself numerously with the glass and stuff...... Now I notice there's more damage than just broken glass. The glass had scratched the paint on the doors... both the front and back was scratched... ugh.. and it had cut into my chair too! Also the plastic seal that surrounds the window is cut up.... this is probably going to cost me more.
I've never heard of anyone stealing gas receipts before....that's a first. I asked around they said that it's for the credit card number... Oh, they had enough time to go into my trunk and steal my runners too!!!!
Ubernoob - No, the tendant said that the car was already like that when she got there... could have been just minutes after I parked my car.....
Question now is...... Do I go into ICBC for assessment, or bring it down to a body shop and have them fix the window and assess the damage there?

where did this happen @? it's usually the am's that the ******* lurkers are out scoping cars.
My gas department was broken a couple weeks back, but having a window smashed is more painful.

I park at 1185 West Georgia St. (cross street is Bute). It's the same building as the 24 hour Fitness World. It's a secure parking lot with gates and stuff.. but I noticed that one of the doors don't lock... So I guess they went in fron there.. and saw my car and went at it.....
Breaking gas compartment too??!?!? geeeeeeeeez... Theives should all just be locked up!! it's ridiculous.

Yes, go to ICBC for an assessment...you have the option to claim it or get it privately fixed but definitely use the ICBC asessment as a guide for other bodyshop repair costs, then decide who to go with.
Good luck

I got it assessed, total damage is $1366.50
It's being fixed, but I have a feeling that it would be very noticeable as to where the new paint is.

Yes, I went through ICBC.... paid the $300 deductible..
I got my car back!!! YAY!!!
Got an OEM window from Lexus... leather on the seat was fixed.....
new paint on my door... which unfortunately didn't match very well...
The new yellow paint looks a bit darker than the paint on the rear passenger door though..... But I guess there's not much I can do about it.
