Buying a 2006 IS350 Advice
Hi there,
I've been looking to buy my first car (I'm 33), and after months of research have found an IS350 I'm interested in buying. I've watched many youtube videos, and read through old posts on here. I went to visit the car with a friend who fixes up old cars and is a bit of a gear head, though not Lexuses. The car drove well and had no warning signs I could see based on what I've read. We examined the engine and found no warning signs. The owner bought it recently but is selling because his kids don't fit in the back seats (not a problem for me). Despite a couple small dings the car seemed to be in really good condition.
So my question is: am I crazy to buy this car without getting a Lexus specialist to do a proper inspection? The only reason I haven't gotten one is timing. I couldn't find a place to do it by this weekend, and I am leaving on Sunday to go to Ottawa for a week as my mother in law is having surgery. Rather than pay $500-600 for a rental elantra for that week, I'd rather have this car.
I've thought about putting a term in the purchase agreement about getting an inspection after the sale but I don't know if the seller would go for it. Anyway, am I crazy?
