Default California dreams

So a little back story. This is my 3rd 2nd gen GS I've owned. About two years ago I ended up selling my last 2gs because I had decided to build a 3GS. Well two years later, I have another 2gs lol. I decided with this one I wanted to do something a little different.

in the beginning on January is when I set out to buy a shell for my build. Went a checked out a few shells but many were missing more then I was willing to accept. I found a gs300 locally and decided to go check it out. Ended up being an older gentleman that was selling it so he could go buy a new gs350.

After driving it around for a month it was time to start tearing it apart.

I decided that I wanted to do a manual conversion. First thing first removed the dash and started preping

Ended up buying an is300 clutch and brake assembly. Felt it flowed with the interior and was able to get them for a reasonable price from ty_gs3. I was able to find a lot of the random things i needed at local yards including the is300 brake booster, clutch slave, and more.

I got a good deal on a GTE swap, so it was out with the GE engine.

WOW dude quite the project. Good luck with the build.

Out of curiosity, what are they charging for a 2JZGTE in the states these days (If you don't mind me asking)?

I've been through a lot over the past few years.

Since the black 2GS (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...od-thread.html) it's gone like this: 6 years, 3 jobs, 2 kids, 9 cars (not including wifey's), and just a lot of change and growth for my family. But I'm back with my 5th Lexus (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lx-...od-thread.html) and a 95 Cobra (second coming of my first car) and reasonably stable.... for now. My good friend will be selling his 2GS in another year or so and we've been talking about it for a while, so I should be back in a 2GS (my 3rd) soon enough.

Gotta have fun with it.

I wanted to do manual swap in my GS as well. I had some parts collected but like so much, never got around to it. I was thinking of convert the GS ECU pinouts to IS300 spec and try that route with an IS ECU. I think it would be so amazing to drive a manual GS. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to the progress of this build.

Engine and transmission are in the car. At the time was still cutting to get the intercooler piping to sit right.
