Default The Nightwing Build

Decided to start a build thread (should've done this 2 years ago). I picked up this car, my first SC and only 2nd car ever, in August 2014. It's a 1993 SC400, Silver Spruce on spruce interior. Bought it for $2000. Previous owner riced it with a do-luck kit and aftermarket fogs, and ran it into the ground so I wanted to save it. This is a completely new learning experience for me as I was never "into" cars before and owned a ****ty, economical domestic previously. Here are a few pics of when I first got it in August 2014. I will continue to upload logs of things I've done when I have time.

Default August 2014 Transmission Rebuild

Okay so August, 2014. Right after I pick up the car the transmission goes. No forward, only reverse. It's at this point that I shell out $1500 for a rebuild from a company in Irving, TX called ACS Transmission.

Default October 2014, Respray/Restoration

October 2014, I decided to go ahead and get the car repainted in 191 Cosmos Black Metallic which is a Mercedes color. Getting any dents/damage repaired at the same time. At this point I find out the previous owner took off the crash bar like an idiot. I also decided to throw a different bumper on so I bought a vertex rep from a nice dude on facebook whose name I can't recall.... either way, cost me $250 shipped. Car looked nice after the spray was done, but the 20" wheels it came with are bothering me. Oh well. They'll grow on me lol

Default May 2015, The long journey at the shop

May 2015, my poor SC400 starts overheating. BAD. I check all the basics, everything seems okay. But its just boiling coolant. It even blew a hole through the water neck. I replace that, thermostat, etc. Overheats again. I tow it into Jaramillos Transmission/Customs shop eventually, they start what would be a long long journey that would last a year.

Default APRIL 2016, Welcome to the Present!

It is now April 5th, 2016. Finally caught up to the present lol. My sc is STILL at Jaramillos Customs but things are turning around. It's been there almost a year now. I figured while I was fixing the car I would get some goodies too.... I have no control lol. Anyway, this is an update to show/list everything done to the car while it's been in there. Here are a few repair related things:

- Replaced worn out Rear UCA's with newer ones
- Had to get rid of the old 1uz engine. It was warped. Bought a good 94 1UZ for $500, BUT didn't know it was from an LS400. So many obstacles to get little things to work right lol
- Bought/installed a rebuilt ECU from Tanin Electronix
- Brand new timing kit on the newer engine
- New starter
- Bought a nice engine harness from a dude on facebook and installed
- New battery
- New motor mounts
- New fuel pump regulator
- A bunch of other stuff

SOME GOODIES:
- Rebuilt cluster
- Installed Aristo TT dual electric E-fans
- Cusco Zero 2E coilovers
- DND Steering wheel and quick release
- Clear side markers from japan
- Toyota "TEQ" emblem
- Soarer Lion Emblem
- LS400 BBK! (and 15mm spacers to clear)
- 97+ fogs
- some other stuff I'm forgetting....

Pics attached

Default Coilovers are in!

Homeboy put my coilovers on and gave me a sneak peak from the shop. A little lower than stock until i can work out the suspension more.

Default Black interior!

So (while the car is STILL at shop) i decided to start acquiring black OEM pieces for an interior swap. I managed to come across an almost complete interior and snagged it! Still missing a few pieces and seats but who cares!

I also picked up a black carpet for $100 and a complete radio trim with hazard and climate switches for a hundred bucks as well.

Good progress so far you will really love when it is all done. Once you get all the maintenance stuff done it should be headache free. That black interior will set it off right.

Appreciate it! The engine is running right as rain as of right now, but the front end suspension feels like it's... Well, 23 years old. Lol just ordered a remanufactured steering rack and new inner and outer tie rods. Gonna pop those in pretty soon. Also, the up/down in my steering column adjustment just went out so I also ordered a new tilt steering gear.
