Ridiculous man, I'd lose it if I brought my ride in and someone broke something and attempted to Jerry-rig some stuff and not say anything and my ride breaks down or worse because of it. Glad he fessed up and they'll take care of it.

Sounds like a free fix as well as a partial refund or severely discounted next visit... Like above the %50 off range. I personally wouldn't settle for less. Good luck. Sucks that they went with the "pray he doesn't notice" approach. That in and of itself at a any business let alone a major dealer is reprehensible.

And it's now 3:35PM my time and I have yet to hear from them.

Default Update

Well to update you guys - dealer calls and says the mechanic had "good intentions" and tells me they'll order the part which will cost $366. That's funny because I found it at the Lexus parts site for $266. Of course they won't order it until Monday which means depending on availability, I'll have my car back Weds or Thurs.

Still feel like they will try to still get some money out of me but it won't happen.

Wait...are you saying they want you to pay for the piece the mechanic broke? My response would be "I don't care how much it costs because you're paying for it - not me". Wow

Yeah, I'm curious about that also, they saying you'll be paying that? I'd let them go ahead and fix it and go pick my car up and just ask for the keys. If they tried to tag me with a bill I'd probably lose it. I mean I've dealt with a lot over my 20yrs in the Army but would not stand for that at all. If they were like "$366 plus an hour labor, that's $500 something..." I'd be like "you're eating that or that young tech with good intentions is." You should not be paying a dime brother.

Default Oh no!

I'm not paying for anything at all! Whether they think that I am or not, it won't happen.

The service rep emailed me the other day and said they also detected a misfire and would be fixing that free of charge. I emailed them back and told them thank you.

I should get them to replace the timing belt, water pump and cam seals to make amends.

If you don't mind, could you tell me what dealership this is? Seems to me like all the Lexus dealerships in SC are trash.. you won't believe what I went through when I first got my LS a year ago

Actually this is a Toyota dealer, but the same owner has a Lexus dealer as well. I fail to see the need to pay a surcharge for a valet in a tux so no Lexus dealer service unless absolutely necessary. And I said I wouldn't blast them on social media unless they screwed me, but they made it right without any problems so the dealer in question was Jim Hudson. They even took care of a bad coil without cost to me. Gotta give them a 👍so far. Gotta really push her before I give a final verdict.

Glad to hear they made things right but their initial deception would make me want to never go back to this place. Good luck with the rest of your build.

Yeah, they've been black balled. They made it right, but once bitten, twice shy.
