Help please!! 2jzgte vvti swap
I have a 1995 lexus sc300 with a 2jzgte vvti auto swap. When sitting at idle the temp will climb to the middle of "h" and "c" but once I start driving it climbs to 3/4 towards the hot side. The car isn't overheating but the temp gauge says it is. Harness was done by dr. Tweak. Please if you have any suggestions let me know!

I'm doing this same swap in my sc400 and tweak is makin my harness right now as well he told me for the gage to work I'd haft to put a temp a sensor in the water neck of the aristo motor their is a little bolt on it that comes out and you put the sensor in. Now what I'm wondering is what temp sensor goes in it and does the new harness come with the provisions to plug in this sensor

I've already thrown in the temp sensor where that bolt is in the water neck but the readings are off. Other people have said it's because here is a missing ground of some sort but I dont know how to go about finding that ground

it should read...
Tweak is correct Aristo VVTi doesn't have the temp sensor on the Water neck because it gets the signal through the Can-bus.
So You have to add that sensor into you water neck and make sure the pic at the kick panel is on the right pin at the connector.
It should work 100%

How do you know that the car is not actually overheating? Unless you have another way to measure the actual coolant temperature, my guess is it really is overheating assuming the sender is wired correctly. If you think the wiring is incorrect then the logical step would be to trace the wire from the temp sender to make sure it goes to the temp gauge.

I was using a infrared temperature gun but it turns out the sensor was working right there was just a slight cut in the coolant hose on the back of the head. Problem solved!! thanks guys
