Default 07 LS460 - Loud clicking noise from Dashboard - Blender Door / Damper Okay!

Long time lurker here and recently purchased a beautiful 07 LS460 with 24K miles about 3 weeks ago.

About 2 weeks ago, I noticed a loud clicking / hammer noise from the dashboard lasting about 15- 20 seconds and after reviewing numerous threads here (thank you), I realized it could be my blender door / damper due to the infamous cabin air filter change. .

It must be noted that the Dealer did not change the cabin air filter and when I looked inside my glove box, I could easily open / close the blender door using the recirc ac button. Additionally, my cooling and fan is working fine as well, so I am not too sure that this is a blender door issue.

My question is that the noise continues to happen for about 20 seconds when the car is started and shut off. Since my blender door / damper opens and closes smoothly, is the servo motor going bad or servo sub assembly?

If it is my servo motor, could it be possible that it was damaged when the cabin filter was replaced? With the car only bearing 24K miles, I cant beleive my servo motor has already gone bad!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm, I don't know, it seems you are already looking in the place I would have suggested. When you first start the car do you have the glove compartment open and the filter removed to be sure it is coming from there? It does seem strange that it goes away after a few seconds.

Does the AC temp reset everytime you start the car to 75 degrees?

Sounds like a blender door motor but not necessarily the one that controls the recycle / outside air. There are 6 or more in there if I'm thinking straight. Foot control, dual passenger, vents, defrost, etc.

It did reset to 75 degrees everytime, however now the damper door is stuck in an infinite loop and keeps making the same noise without resetting. Bummer!

I purchased an extended warranty (mechanical breakdown protection) through a third party. Once the waiting period is over, I will go ahead and open a claim. Based on what I read in the warranty, plenum doors and vacuum motors are covered under Air conditioning. Lets hope I am right!

I also think, unlike the Lexus extended warranty, this company does not differentiate b/w failure and malfunctioning.

Thanks mate - the door in the glove compartment opens / closes fine. I believe it the door inside the dash that causing issues and now it continuously makes that noise without resetting...

Few members fixed this door issue themselves, use the search tool and you will find couple of threads.
