the shrouds both cost the same from phr whether it's is300 or the spal shroud but the Oem fan blades and motors are crazy expensive. We have used the aftermarket is300 fan motor and blade it just doesn't flow the same as the car was starting to get hotter than normal. Granted the motor is a 3.4 half filled motor but it didn't get hot before. After we brought new Oem motor and blades the car doesn't even get hot. Even on full power mode on the is300 fans the spal fans just moves a lot more air and it's a cheaper setup. You can definitely go on eBay and find used is300 fans and just buy the shroud from phr or adapt the Oem shroud to fit.
The IS300 fans draws 3300 cfm of air where as those SPAL draws 3560 cfm . Not that much of a difference in my book considering the costs involved for the setup plus upgrade to a huge alternator amperage rating . The IS300 dual fans draws a total of less than 28 amps of current . Where as those SPAL fans draws 34 amps per fan which means 68 amps of current draw. One will need a huge alternator to use those fans or it will easily kill the battery especially when the AC and lights are on.
When at full power , one do not need a lot of air from the fans for the simple reason that YOU SHOULD BE MOVING FAST and a lot of cold air is being pushed from the front of the car. I have tested the IS300 fans in two of my +1000rwhp cars in more than 500 miles trips and have no problem at all. 99.5% of SC users with boosted cars won't have more than +1000rwhp setup . Besides, a half filled block means less coolant going around the block and cylinders to cool it. That is the main problem I see right there for getting that engine hotter. I don't even see anyone here filling a block. I have seen +1500rwhp 2JZs without any fill. Cars from Real Street Performance are making over that power without fills.
Though I will always recommend keeping the stock fan clutch setup . It is the best for our 2JZ boosted car.
