Default CP2 project: MEGATRON

greetings to all. i figured i start a build thread like everyone else i've had my car for almost a month now and have started buying things here and there. these boards are great and i've learned quite a bit. i don't really have any recent pics of my car, but i'll start w/ the stock pics i took the first day i bought and drove it.

2015 IS350 F Sport: nebula grey with black guts, mark lev system and nav...i think that's most of the options i have.

so mods that i have done so far:

Joe Z full cat back exhaust
F Sport filter element and box
tint all around (don't really count that as a mod though)
de-chromed w/ gloss black vinyl
black pearl front L emblem
carbon fiber vinyl wrap interior
painted engine cover
plastidiped the aft emblems black pearl
painted calipers
Avant Garde M510 19x8.5 and 19x9.5
Stillen front lip
Stillen rear diffuser
custom side extenders
ijdm fog lamps

next mod(s):

upgrade interior lighting to LED

future plans:

Cusco strut tower bar
rear spoiler
carbon fiber parts

here is a pic of my intake set up

reason for not getting the whole system was because of reading discussions in these forums. there looked to be an issue w/ hp loss when going to metal pipe. don't know if it's due to heat soak or not, but all the posts i've read from members who own a Joe Z or the F Sport systems, there seems to be a loss in power as shown by their respected dynos. i haven't seen any dynos from the other intakes, but i'm good w/ my set up for now. to me it's funny that some members on here buy an intake and/or an exhaust (just) for the sound. to me, if i can add a mod like an intake/exhaust, i'm going to try and get a part that adds power (as minor as it may be) and not worry about how "cool" it makes my car sound. don't get me wrong, i do like the sound of a good exhaust so long it doesn't sound like a fart can. if an exhaust gave my car +5 hp and sounds stock, i'll take that over one that sounds deep and adds nothing...but that's me.

anyway...i'll continue to post pics as my new project continues. i really need to post updated pics, but my car is hella dirty right now...haha. thanks for checking my project out.

Default De-chromed and black pearl emblem

Finally got a chance to give my bucket a bath. After the bath, installed the black pearl front emblem. I'm going to plastidip my aft emblems either tonight or tomorrow. Here updated pics of Megatron.

Default Update May 6, 2015

So I finally got the guts and try a diy to vinyl wrap my interior. I bought some 5D4D carbon fiber wrap and went to work. It was definitely a chore but it was fun at the same time. There are some bubbles but I don't think it's that bad for a rookie. Lemme know your thoughts...good or bad. I still have to plastidip my rear emblems!!!

do it! the look definitely is worth it, if you're into carbon fiber. my wife and son love it as well. you get more of a satisfaction doing it yourself...although my work could use some cleaning up. just follow the carbon fiber interior thread found the reg 3is forums. there are great tutorials on how to remove every piece. there is a video that shows how to remove the center console. the only thing I had to figure out was how to remove the traction contro/snow buttons, driving mode select wheel and butt warmer/cooler buttons as well, but they weren't difficult.

if you haven't wrapped vinyl before, it's quite a learning experience, but after awhile you'll get the hang of it. just make sure you have a heat gun or blow dryer that blows hot air because it makes a huge difference especially when it comes to curves and things like that.

Default update: 20150516

finally got my engine cover back from the shop. my avatar makes a little more sense now...haha. the purple looks a lighter in the picture than it really is, but i wanted to make sure there was more light and less shadow in the picture. i'm going to do my calipers purple, but it'll be a darker shade w/ an anodized look. i wish i could've done that with my cover as well, but it didn't happen. i'm happy with it! peep my oil filler cap too! as far as looks, i'd get the LEMS intake if it wasn't so expensive. thinking about getting the cusco strut bar next and will paint the arms the same purple.

Not quite the purple shade I'd pick, but the paint work is flawless.

Good work so far!

One thing though... your avatar is Galvatron, but technically he was born from Megatron when Unicron gave him the new bod and name!
