08' USB/Alpine IS-F Build Thread
I recently purchased a used 2008 IS-F that was very clean in and out. There was black plasti dip on the tail lights and rear bumper lights which I wanted to remove asap. Also the car had some ugly aftermarket shift ****.
First thing I did was replace the **** with a F-Sport black with blue stich and carbon fiber auto shift ****. Then I removed the plasti dip from the rear tail lights to reveal the stock look.
Here is the car at the dealer prior to being shipped to me
Finally got the F delivered
I blacked out the chrome trim on the grill with plasti dip, if and when I get a new grill I'll probably do a black pearl paint on it
I had the 2nd cats deleted as well as the mufflers. Instead of straight pipes I had my muffler shop cut the pipes before the Y split and install a dump
Installed a Joe Z prototype intake tube and dry AFE air filter

The 2nd cat and muffler delete was about 50 lbs of weight savings and I noticed the car was faster with smoother acceleration. The V8 sounds really mean and drone is minimal. The best $200 I've spent modding an exhaust. After seeing a fellow F owner do a dump exhaust tip after the resonator I was encouraged to go through with my plan of not going with dual straight pipes. I dislike the Y section and where the exhaust is crushed towards the rear so my muffler guy cut the exhaust off before the crushed part. Keeping the resonator keeps the sound to a nice deep growl that is tolerable inside and out of the car.
My previous car was an Evo X with straight pipes, no cats, and no resonator so I am also used to louder exhaust systems.

Nice work on this dude.
The plastidip rear lights weren't nice at all IMHO.
Does look the part on that front grill though.
May even have a go at doing this on mine to see how it looks.
Don't really rate the quality of the badgeless carbon version I got.
Keep up the great work though chap.
Cheers.

Congrats to you sir! Clean mods coming, and I'm glad you removed the PD on the tails. As others have already said, post up a sound clip when you get a chance? No rush, we're not going anywhere! lol...as far as the lip are you keeping it the stock color, or where going to have it painted or hydro-dipped in CF? Either way, it's going to look good!
