Default My 99' GS4 in the Chicago Area

Hey guys I've been lurking for awhile and have had a few Lexus's in the past. I started with a 92' LS400 and then picked up a 99' SC400. Did a couple things to it and realized the SC was too small for me. I sold it and picked up a 98' black on black GS4 but ended up moving into the city and decided I did not need another car and end up selling that as well.

Fast forward 3 years later and I picked up an 2003 b6 Audi A4 with a 2.7tt b5 S4 swap. I immediately did a full stage 3 setup on the car and have enjoyed her since. For those of you not familiar with Audi's a 2.7tt motor into the b6 body is pretty rare. I am lucky enough to own one along with it being equipped with a full stage 3 setup. The car is a true sleeper in the b6 body.

I decided I need to pick up a daily so I came back to my Lexus roots. I picked up a 99 black on tan GS4 local to me.

Enough talking here is a quick pic for now:

The other day I noticed that the caster arm bushings were shot. I ended up ordering some caster arm bushings from figs. I also noticed that the car would clunk when I'd shift from P to D and to R. So I ended up ordering diff bushings and a few other things.

Mail man showed up today

Figs Caster Arm bushings
Figs Diff Pinion mounting bushings
Figs Diff Rear mount over-steer bushings
Figs Rear upper control arm bushings
Figs steering rack bushings

I went ahead and got the full set of diff bushings because I have a TRD LSD. I'm hoping to get everything installed but the diff bushings this weekend. I'm thinking I may have a buddy of mine drop the diff for me at his shop instead of me doing it at home.

That's it for now. I'll update when I get a chance

Just a quick update:

I didn't have as much time this weekend as I thought I would. I got the caster arm and the steering rack bushings done. Rear upper control arm bushings will have to be next weekend. Gonna drop the car off in the monday morning to have the diff dropped and all bushings installed.

I also ordered inner and outer tie rods, moog lower balljoints, e-musa adjustable upper control arms/balljoints, and sway bar links.

They should be here by Tuesday/Wednesday of next week. I'll update as I keep reviving her.

Hey guys just a quick update. I installed the following: inner & outer tie rods, LBJs, upper control arms, sway bar links, and picked up the car from getting the diff bushings done. Can't believe what a difference everything has made so far. Especially how the rear end feels.

Here are a few pics. Haven't had the chance to take many

Thank you to my friend who let me borrow his sweet inner tie rod tool

tie rods were really worn out

If you're doing steering rack bushings just cut the outer lips when you're trying to knock them out and they will come out much easier

Door luck actuator was goin out and I found a smokin deal one. Did not want to mess with cutting it open. Got another dash kit cuz mine has been creaking like crazy

Just a few more

Car looks so much better now that the 2is wheels are gone. She could use some spacers but she'll do for now. I have motor mounts and trans mount on the way and that will prob sum up all the work on the car till spring. Thanks for looking

Thanks and the car came with the TRD LSD already installed. I figured it needed some proper bushings to go along with it so I ordered the FIGS ones and they also solved my clunking issue from P to D and vice versa.

I went with E-musa front upper control arms and they took a lot of massaging to get in. I needed to take a straight angle grinder to them because the bushing/dowel needed to be shortened to make them fit. If i was to do it again I'd spend the money on the SPC's
