Install LSD
Find a better solution for gauges (pillar pods not fitting well)
Solder connections now that it has started
Fluids for diff and trans
Test drive and check for leaks
Dyno

I'll never get my money back except from insurance. I built it to keep until I kill it dead, lol
Dang ... $18k without even paying for true labor cost since it was your friend who built it. It ain't really cheap boosting a car and doing it the right way .

Good Luck and enjoy it while there is no snow in your place...hahaha !

that is a bit pricey but you have some quality parts on there that should last you a while, looking really clean gotta say. I didn't even realize Mushi made front mount intercoolers, matches the radiator very nicely.

Wow that is pricey

For that kinda of money could have gone GTE with V160

It was easy to get there....
Some of you better take a peek at your spreadsheet...... Update it LOL!

It's actually more than that...

Off the top of my head, just guessing some prices...
$2000 Tripod R154. Verified low mileage.
$1000 LSD
$1500 Turbo
$1400 BOV/WG/IC/RAD/PIPE
$1000 Aluminum DS/R154 extras
$1000 Clutch/Flywheel
$1000 TT Brakes/Rotors/Pads/Lines
$1000 Gauges/SAFC
$0700 MapEcu3 W' WIFI
$0600 Head Work
$1500 TT ECU parts/injectors/Boost controller
$1000 Manifold/ARP Studs/TT gasket/-AN Lines

Prices totally approximate.

I did not have time to find perfect deals on used stuff or special deals. Once it was on, it was on.

See how easy that was to get there?
It was more than I thought....

Thanks Guys!!

Props, Studio. It's brave to post how much you poured into the project when everyone's telling you how much you could save by doing the work yourself. What would be truly crazy is if those same people constantly called SC owners cheap.

Gotta pay to play now a days. At least to do it right.

Great Build!

Don't feel bad man, I'm over $20k in, and still need my fuel system, clutch, and tuning on top of all of that. It hurts, but just sucks because I don't have anywhere where I can work on the car myself. Luckily, we've both found builders that we can trust with our investments

Yes sir, those are really just parts prices. People doing their own work will pay similarly if they choose the same parts. I just did it in one (long) shot. Thanks T2.

It's easy to rack up those numbers as you well know. I live on Second avenue in the middle of Manhattan. You can't even pull over in front of my building, lol. Good luck with yours man!!

SG - hey buddy I will take your offer on your text messages in the last weeks.. hahaha. I didn't get to see you when I was in Manhattan weeks ago. I would be there next weekend hope to ride in that car. Sending you a text message in a bit.

You are one of the few whose actions are louder than their words. You do what you preach or talk about on this forum , lol. At least now you have something to show , a build thread and a truly running SC that looks good and is fast ! Now you have experienced that indeed having a boosted SC isn't cheap. Enjoy it as much as you can . Soon , I will guarantee you , you would say I want more when that adrenalin called boost starts flowing into your veins, lol.

That's why I'm glad I bought my car already done. 17K for a 97 with 72,000 miles and all that was already done. I'm starting to feel better about. Of course I've spent at least 12K on it since then.

Yep,
I have been thinking about that too..... let some goof like me build the heck out of it and then sell it at a major loss when the time comes. In many cases, that's the smarter option.
The problem there is that we often buy the car before growing tired of the low end performance, then decide to boost it. That is what happened to me.
I wanted this experience however next time, I may buy a car already built well and save lots of bread. I see great builds for 12K fairly often.

That's what is ironic about it, builds cost money and yet when you sell a car , people would only pay a fraction that is why a lot of people end up parting their cars when it is time to let go. Even for performance parts, you hardly could sell them if ever for a price near what you paid for .

That is why I laugh when I hear guys say , I am building this performance car then sell it to make money. Only way one can make money if parts where bought for nothing and one did all the work.

SG- is it running good yet buddy ? Ready to terrorize the turnpike ?

Not yet man, I was patient already. I have had to develop another level of patience with this project. It ran with the car on stands to make sure everything clears underneath and to burp the cooling system, that's all I got, lol.
