Talk about part hoarding, lol. I'm in for a 3-spoke wheel as well. Gotta be tan

I have a tan one and a black one. They are pretty much perfect. I think they are from a GS and a 2000 Sc. I'll probably sell them for $230 or so. They will be for sale as soon as my IS wheel arrives later this week. If the IS wheel is perfect, these are for sale.

Thumbs up

Stage one of the two tone interior started today.
Three spoke black wheel is on.
I used a rubber coating similar to Plasti-Dip on the wood trim.

NEXT:
1) SEM dash

2) install black versions of all brown plastic

3) Either SEM plaint the tan lower door panels currently on the car black, or paint the center padded vinyl strip of my black spare door panels tan. What I am going for is a black door panel with the center soft padded strip tan. This tan padded area will continue through the dash. The rest of the dash will be black. Almost all of the interior will be black, except this padded strip, headliner and a few other accents.

The "Dip" on the trim came out just like i wanted it to :thumb up:

Yeah!

Default SEM paint dash and door panels. Two tone time!

Due to the heating unit being replaced my dash is already out of the car. It was a perfect time to paint it black. I also decided to start on the SEM, two tone door panels and dash. I painted the brown dash black and re painted the dash trim with black plasti-dip for textural contrast.
I purchased black door panels and decided to paint the vinyl center section with sandstone SEM paint. I could have just made my tan panels lower sections black but the handle is a "high wear" area and I suspect the black would wear off of the door handle over time. This choice will wear better over time.
Ultimately only the padded vinyl strip on the doors and dash will be tan. Everything else will be black.
While the car is in pieces, we will also swap the carpet and seats out for black parts.
There was a time when I would have surely paid someone to do all of this.

THANK YOU CLUB LEXUS

Exclamation One more step towards completion.

Got the painted dash in, got the black seats, carpet, console, bezel, black wood trim and radio/AC controls in. I'll put the custom door panels in this week.

Good work
Did you need to drop the steering column to get the dash board out? Im itching to paint my dash black but i dread having to remove the dash board.

I was having my heater unit blend door actuators replaced so the car was disassembled almost to the firewall by the shop. I just took the dash home and painted it so I'm not sure. Someone who has done it may chime in. I know my steering column was still connected but steering wheel and column was resting on the drivers seat when I picked up the dash.

From what I read on the diy thread it says you have to drop the column but a guy I know that owned an SC said he swapped out a tan dash for a black one and he said hes 95% positive he didnt need to drop the column to do the job. I want to tackle this job, and im hoping I dont need to drop the column.

I'm sure many people know, post the question on the main board.

Good Luck!

Studiogeek - nice work man !

718murdoc - adjust the steering wheel all the way up and all the way down and you would be able to take out the dash board pulling it from the passenger door side.

Though it would make your life easier if you take out at least the steering wheel. Also there are only 4 main bolts if I remember right to lower that column so it is not hard at all. Doing the former or the latter will really make things easier.
