Finally got around to doing my steering rack bushings. I purchased the Whiteline poly bushings several months ago and decided today was the day.
It took about 110 minutes of working time and getting the old bushings out was a pain and a half. The most useful tool for getting them out ended up being this $4 C-clamp from Advance Auto that I happened to have laying around from a few years ago.
The other cylinder bushing looked similar to this one.
Verdict: There seems to be no more play in my steering wheel, and the steering is generally a bit firmer and slightly more responsive. It's not the night/day difference that some others have said it was, but then again I only did a ~10 minute test drive around my neighborhood. I guess we'll see!
Downside: They're pretty squeaky but you don't notice if you're >10mph as the engine drowns them out big time. Doesn't both me.
