Or maybe to simulate the look of a handle, but they actually just cover the holes from the new one? Because now that I look at it, wouldn't the handle have to slide under the bolt in order to come out and be functional? Rather than an exact fitting hole?

I'd paint them, make them blend in more. Or wrap them. Something.
They are just plates to cover the holes left behind after removing the handles.
The more I think about it the more I think satin black is the way to go.

Definitely. I think it would look a lot nicer with the rest of the surrounding interior that way

Finally settled on a look. I beveled all the edges and painted it flat black, the satin was still too shiny.

So... minor setback. someone hit me and ran.

after pulling the dent out.

i need to push the edge toward the light to recreate that curve.

daily driver corrosion protection for the week. I'm dropping it off at the body shop saturday for finishing, hopefully I can get it closer to where it needs to be (I don't have a body shop I can trust yet so the closer it is when I drop it off the more likely they are to finish it right).

Sorry to hear that, hopefully the shop can get it looking good again. Any damage to the bumper? I couldn't tell if it was reflections or not.

by the grace of God I managed to buff it out in about 20 seconds. I was blown away, the paint job on this car appears to be of very high quality (custom color change a few years old).

Just a thought of creativity....You could laser etch the plates to say something to make it semi custom. Your CL screen name. Or "SC300"

Or just leave them plain which also looks good. Just thinking out loud here.

Oh da*^, now I see why you asked about the headlight. Ill pm you a number to a guy that I know that does beyond excellent body work, he should be able to match the paint color pretty easily too.

I didn't see the clear coat in person, but it looks amazing. Not even my car and I'm excited to see the results first hand.
