Default Just got an 07 is350!

I have my 2007 is350 in graphite for about a month and it is amazing! I used to drive a toyota highlander but I was hit by a car causing my highlander to be totaled. I decided to use that money from the insurance to get myself something new. I love my is350 and I want to get into car modding. So far I just replaced the headlights with hids. What are some things you guys suggest I should first do to my car? thanks everyone! Here are some pictures of my car!http://imgur.com/a/7puGK

Congrats! I recently purchased an 06 350 my self. So far I've been doing light restoration work. I can say from first hand experience about some aftermarket parts if you plan on modding it.

What do you want to do?

Red-outs. Cheapest and cleanest mod to make the rear look 100x better.

Congrats on the IS! I remember what it felt like when I first got my car.

You can always get coilovers, intake, exhaust, and sway bars Red outs are a really good first mod as well!

Saw your post on Reddit! We're a little more active here lol

First mods are usually tint/red-outs/HID/etc.

I did tint, visors, and intake first. Just depends on what you want.

Welcome to CL.

First mods should be:

Coil overs or springs
Front and rear sway bars
Intake
Exhaust
Tint
Illuminated door sills
JDM door visors
Rims
Front, rear lip, side skirts
Roof spoiler
LEDs

Good luck with the mods

What do you want to do with the car? Show or go? Most of the people on here are about making their cars look flashy. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone is different. Personally if it doesn't improve handling or power I won't even consider it. You should also look into the pros and cons of each modification. Every thing you do has a reaction. The wrong combination will not give you the results you are looking for & in some cases cause major damage to your vehicle.

My vote is for suspension upgrades, tighten up the car front/rear. As for performance parts these cars are NA vehicles and any power improvements will be very low with high cost associated.

I come from the turbo car world where a little money thrown into the car equals major HP increases. If you want a fast car my theory has always been to buy a fast car. Buying a slow car and making it fast will always be a waste of money. You will lose your shorts in the resale of the car because nobody will pay very much above KBB on a used car no matter what parts you have. Taking off parts will only net you ~50% of your original purchase price and going through the trouble of trying to sell those parts. You most likely will be left with some parts left over that nobody wants to buy or buy at your asking price.

Search performance driving schools in your area. Learn to drive your car. This will be the most fun you will ever have with your clothes on. Way too many times are there car enthusiasts who are driving a very capable vehicle and they don't know what they even have. This is because the street is not a place to explore what their car can do.

We all have choices and what we do in our lives will effect our future. If you are caught wreck less driving add points to your license, suspended or revoked driving privileges & maybe a day or two in jail. If somebody steps out in front of your car an overzealous DA might try to throw the book at you and 7-10years jail sentence could be awaiting.

There is a time and place for everything.

Congrats OP! I usually start each of my builds with the basic engine bolt-ons and/or wheels+drop

The 07 IS350 is the best year to get.

A JoeZ intake is a nice power upgrade that won't hurt the bank.

Look into getting the F-Sport rear sway bar if you really want a great bang for your buck handling mod.

If your IS350 is due for new tires, think about getting a set of high-performance summer tires to really enjoy the added traction it offers (Michelin Pilot Super Sports are the most recommended tires in this category).
