I went to my wheel dealer today to discuss the new rims for the GS. We are sponsored by WORK wheels so I went in to check out some new finishes and rim styles.

Meanwhile my one month old chilled on the couch and enjoyed all the shiny rims.

"Step into my office"

And some 20x11.5" HS203's.

SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-510540443.jpg

I have pretty strict criteria for the wheels on this car. Width must be up to 11.5 in a 19" dia. must have stepped lip, must have more than 150mm of lip, and must have options for anodized lip.
As we discussed options and styles, we decided to wait till after auto salon when they release all the new wheel styles for the year. Apparently there may be some exciting new styles that would be perfect for our project, and this way we can have rims that NOBODY will have.

Pretty excited!

Next up are the coilovers, were talking to a few different suppliers on those as well. We've used STANCE exclusively in the past and are also sponsored by them, but are exploring other options due to our specifications not being able to be met in a timely and repeatable manner. There are no off the shelf options that meet our criteria so they will need to be custom spec'ed.

Well see what happens with those as well.

More pics tomm!

Hey guys sorry for the lack of updates. Been a little slow going. So I split my motor and trans, put my motor on the stand (I didn't really do it Kevin did) to rebuild it. Last time I drove it it had 150/150/155/150/155/60 compression. So I was like damn. And I'm pretty sure the hg is blown too.

SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-198723189.jpg

It's a pretty standard 1.5JZ. And for those that aren't familiar with this setup it's basically a 3.0L 1JZ. Mine has a completely stock NA bottom end , stock 1JZ head and cams etc. I'm running a modified eBay manifold with twin turbo smart 38mm waste gates for a fully divided setup. The theory behind this is quicker spool, better boost management, able to run a larger turbo for the same response etc. I run a Borg Warner S360 (62mm) turbo with a .94 a/r which is basically the smallest T4 they make. It has incredibly fast response and spools super fast. I chose this setup because I want instant tire smoke with a FAT torque curve instead of big numbers. I would like some cams help it breathe as the 1JZ cams are tiny. Although I do rev it to 8000 Rpm. Is like to rev it to 9000 (headwork and cams/valve train.)

Just did the 1NZ (echo) coils before I parked it as well as the AEM series 2, hence the custom unwrapped loom (aristo).

Anyways. Plans are to simply refresh with new rings/bearings/gaskets etc. I'm also entertaining the idea of a new intake mani. To clean up and simplify as well.

I run a V160 trans with an HKS GD PRO twin plate clutch. I have to add that this is HANDS DOWN the best clutch and tranny one could ever have. (Maybe the triple if you have huge power). It's smooth and progressive (but still perfectly aggressive) engagement makes it a joy to drove and shift endlessly up and down on the V160 siix speed. I have a modified (direct) shifter linkage so it feels like I'm literally moving the forks with my hand.

I wouldn't say it's the lightest and quickest revving clutch/fly combo (carbonetic/exedy) But fast and durable as well as cheap to replace the discs. $320 air shipped from Japan to my door. As opposed to the full disc style (ORC/OS GIKEN/etc) which get extremely expensive to refresh. ($500 hyper single ORC)

Anyways. That's all for today. I'll post up more pics as we go. Waiting for word back on both the coilovers and the rims so no fun stuff for a while. Just the boring engine stuff.

So to fund and power this project I am parting out my yellow car. We did a little photo shoot before the new owner took the rims.

Also mocked up my new front fenders, talk about SUNKEN!!. With around -6.5deg of camber I have 3" to the fender lip with that 19x9.5+18.

I'll have these all fitted up today hopefully. Just need a little fiddling.

Also have a set of bilstein and h+r that came out of the car. Anyone have an idea of what they're worth? I was thinking $500. Any ideas?

So ya. Got the fenders all fitted nicely although I don't have a front bumper. Tried on a fairly aggressive wheel and spacer setup to fill out the BREED fender. This is also using an adjustable upper arm (-20mm) to give around -6.5 degrees of camber. Final offset and size is 18x11-29 with 245/35-18. It looks EXACTLY how i envisioned it when I made the fenders. Now contemplating 18s or 19s as the inner fender architecture on the 16 is quite small. If I want to turn (drift) with the amount of lock we have. It's either run smaller OD tires or raise it up. So basically no options haha. I also like how low to the ground it is on small tires, makes the 16 look much sportier.

Anyways. Enough talk.

nicely done . the wheels are nice and flush. are 18's better for drifting rather than 19's or is this just a daily driver or both?

It's basically a rolling showcase of our products. Drifting for sure. But on the street and at shows it will be heavily cambered and low as hell. Still leaning towards 19's. It will be .35" higher than on the 18s due to limited tire sizes.

Anyways. Mocked up the rears today. Don't mind the super high rear ride height as I haven't cut the body yet. They are simply taped on currently to show fitment and test for wheels. The rear wheels are currently 18x11-39 with 245/35-18.

I will be molding these on after were finished with the stock body. The bumper and door caps are black gel coat so it kinda gets lost. All the pieces will be black in the future.
