Default AZLexTech's 99 GS300 build

I figure I'll make a thread now to track my slow and steady progress. I've worked for Lexus for almost two years, but just picked one up end of February. This (likely) won't be a big build with turbos and swaps.

Info on car: Burnished Gold Metallic 1999 GS300, 85,000 miles, all maintenance done by dealer to date.

It's getting tinted as I type. Went with legal on the front (35%) and 15% in the rear. I'm also planning to Plasti dip the rear emblems this weekend, and hoping to order some clear side markers soon. That will probably be it for awhile. When these tires are done I'll be looking to go with 18s and a drop. Maybe an exhaust at some point. I'm just spacing out mods because I'm heading back to school in August, and have baby #2 due in October.

I will post picks when the shop drops off my car after tint.

Thanks! It's already made a huge difference, both in interior temps and just over all styling. This weekend I'll be dipping the rear emblems and maybe the grill. I'll get some fresh pics up after that and a nice wash.

What a beauty! That car was clearly well taken care of. Nice find!

Thanks man! The beauty of working at a Lexus dealer is the access to the NSH database. Plus, the sales person who sold it and the service advisor who maintained it still work here. And I got to meet and deliver the original owners into their new ES.

Fresh from wash this morning. Just going to let it dry for a bit before trying my hand at dipping the emblems.

Need some opinions. I still haven't gotten around to dipping the emblems and grill (I promise I'll post pics as soon as I do), but I'm also considering having the roof wrapped. Since the dip is flat black, would flat black look better on the roof or gloss black? I've been searching around CL to see if I can find any pictures for reference. I love the look of a gloss black roof, but I don't want it to look weird with a flat black grill and emblems.

That's what I was thinking as well. I'm currently dipping the grill, finished the emblems. I'll get some pics up when the front is all finished.

Here are the pics as promised!

Prep (Yes, I know its not a great use of printer paper. My wife had tossed the old junk mail pages I was keeping for this project.)

First coat

After four coats, tape removed.

Finished product.

Under-prepped grill, coat one.

Finished grill.

All in all, pretty easy. Next time I'll definitely prep more for the grill. I had over spray all over the hood. Nothing a good microfiber cloth didn't get rid of. I did have cardboard behind the grill to keep the dip off of the radiator.
