Sorry to hear about your selling experience. I too knew , you will eventually feel what SSmith said above but didn't want to discourage you.
We love our SCs. There is nothing wrong with how much we value our SCs because indeed it is not cheap to build a car like yours. But the reality is , nobody is willing to pay us what we want. I haven't seen a built SC sold as a whole car . Most , if not all of them have been parted out. Not unless it was sold way under what the owner spent.
And truly , even a built Supra MKIV will hardly sell higher than what an owner spent. I have a stroker 6speed MKIV for which the owner spent $58k from a well known Supra Builder company. He advertised it for $42k that is why I grabbed it. Same thing for the other built 6speed MKIV I have , the former owner had $40k also built by a well known Supra Builder company and sold it for $30k. Both car complete with all the receipts.
For that matter , if one builds a performance car , he will be lucky if he can recoup every penny he spent not unless he got the parts and labor for nothing .
Another thing , in my opinion , no offense meant but one who has at least $25k will rather buy a MKIV than an SC regardless if it is built. It is just a fact that our SCs are overshadowed by their bigger brothers which are the MKIV.

Sorry to see nothing good happened Shef. Who knows, the right person may be out there.
I drove my car this weekend for the first time in ages. I was getting gas and had a couple of people walk over and see the car. Stereo of course got the most attention. One of the guys asked me if he made a cash offer what would I sell it for. I told him it would take 26K to buy it like it sits. He laughed at me and told me I was crazy. That right there sums up what I was talking about.

Looks like the person who bought the car is parting it out on Supraforums....pretty easy to tell that it is the engine bay from this car in the pics

So guys the project is finally completed and sadly but final, I have decided to sell this masterpiece. This thing is way too clean to be put back on the strip and I do not have the time to actually enjoy it. Baby #2 is on the way and closing on our new house in less than 30 days, timing could not be more perfect to let this go to a new home. I really want the new owner to appreciate this car for what it really is. Besides the $70,000+ invested into it, there are so many man hours behind this project and thank each and everyone who helped build this beauty. I just listed her on eBay. Asking $38,500 which I think its priced to sell. Let me know what you guys think!!

Well, for me , that is the best way to build a toy now . Look for a good deal like this car or a bunch of stuff someone doesn't need that is for sale. A car with those stuff was one heck of a deal. One of the best deal I have seen out there. Congrats to the buyer whom I have dealth with and are nice people. I know it was hard for Shef to let go of it and I feel sorry for him. We have talked about it a lot. But at times we have to do what we got to do because of life circumstances.
Keep the stuff you need for your build and sell what you don't need. You will end up with a lot of your stuff being free. At the end of the day , the overall cost of your build will be low so when you are tired of it and want to put it in the market then you are not loosing tons of money... even probably making money.
But you got to be patient looking for these deals and have the funds ready cause they come out every now and then and disappear quick.
