If you are running a standalone I would go with higher compression than 8.5:1. Maybe like 9.5:1 or 10:1 so you would have better off boost power and better spool time.

Thanks Jwin, I just ordered these pistons (87.5 mm bore): http://www.briancrower.com/view.php?pn=CP7466

I will be going with new GTE 86mm rods OEM as well, which are also on the way.

Now I need more parts for my R154 swap, but I'm mainly concerned with the driveshaft for now, I have a shop that I'm going to tow the car to once I get the engine in and have them measure and modify my current driveshaft to fit. Also still need a master cyl, clutch pedal, slave cyl, clutch line, shifter housing and the shifter itself. (I believe driftmotion has several of these parts available in a kit???)

I cleaned up the engine bay a little more, I'm going to be sanding it down with 200+- grit paper tomorrow, and then I will be painting the bay white on Friday night

You just need the r154 front shaft from a mk3 and it bolts up to a sc300 back section. That's what I did and it worked great.

Wow, I was budgeting in some custom work for the driveshaft, that should save me some green! I'll look for an MK3 driveshaft on CL (Craigslist, not Club Lexus lol)

Here some pics after cleaning, priming, and painting tonight

Wait, I thought you were getting the GE built (BTW GE/GTE rods are identical) but now you're going VVti?

Yeah, I ended up selling the GE block and had to move the car due to a relocation move for a job opportunity in Torrance (LA). The swap was fairly straight forward, and saved me from having to piece together a forged engine/rebuilt head.

Ah gotcha, I just read through the whole thing, not a bad idea considering how much boost you plan! So you've got a stand alone too, I'm interested to see how the VVTi tuning will play out. Looks good so far man!

Started right up Here's pretty much what the finished product looks like. Still need to get the car painted over the next few weeks. I have a vid from my phone, but it's in a weird format. I'll try and get it uploaded into youtube then post it here.

So I seem to be having some specific issues with the fuel pump, or fuel pumps I should say at this point... I've burned/killed 2 pumps so far, and I'm getting an intermittent ground w/ the fuel pump hangar. Has anyone else had an issue similar to this? I'm going to the junkyard to find another hangar and picked up an AEM 320 LPH pump as well, but is there any specific fuel pump ECU mods that need to be done to work the GTE VVTi swaps?
