Always appreciated! Yeah im leaning more to the bigger turbo side. And as for the experience, I know your looking out for my car and money, so I should let you know that the person who is helping me has had a couple turbo cars and is pretty experienced, and I would take it to a shop where I know the mechanic so he could check it over. Now I guess I look for how much my turbo will sell for and how much a bigger one like the BW S300 you recommended will cost me. What kind of "items" are you referring to when u say much more will be needed? Just curious

That small turbo will create a lot of backpressure and can lead to overheating the engine. It's not all about psi to make the engine make power. It's about efficiency. I'm guessing that turbo will start to kill the engine power at 3500 rpm, although you can get more power at low rpm. You'd need at least a GT35 or a smallest T4. It's a good project, but doing it right the first time will save a lot of headache and money down the road.

Agreed with way too small. You need a full frame t4 or dont even bother... unless you planned to run that turbo as a twin with another... and even then it might still be.

Go big(within reason) for when you change your mind and wanna run more later.

Well! Taking the knowledge in, and im currently looking for a bigger turbo. However, ive been finding turbos in the $1,300 range. Yes i do know you get what you pay for and turbos arent cheap, however I was wondering if you guys could help me find a cheaper model turbo. BW S300, T4, GT35 all go way past my limit seeing as I am a university student. Could I grab anything off of 4L and up engines?

There aren't many 4l turbocharged engines on the market. Look for some Holset Turbos.
But if your budget is that tight, i'd go with some smaller bits. I'd do the basics like a proper exhaust, BFI and all that stuff first. You'll gain some power and it wouldn't be that expensiv. If you're going to turbo it properly, you'll need, bigger turbos, expensiv manifolds, downpipe(s), fuel delivery stuff and so on.
It'll be cheaper and easier to run a supercharger.

You can get a used or even broken turbo for under $100, and send it to the turbo shop for rebuild. On average, a rebuild by a pro shop will be around $350-$400. That's still better than spending $1000 on a new turbo. Some new T4 journal bearing turbos from Garrett are about $800. Try to stick with genuine brands, not Chinese turbo. It's a pain to take it apart when the turbo is broken.

Don't do it, I had a HX35 (the H1C is a bit smaller) and it was still too small!!

HX50 is the way!

What are the specs?

You can get a brand new BW S366 for a great price considering you are paying $480 for a used Turbo.

I wouldn't buy that Turbo for $480.
