2JZ SC300 Rebuild

Got the vvti coil pack conversion done, and it's no good. I can't boost past 21psi. Looks like I need to do the LQ9 conversion, because more spark. So yeah, I'm pissed that I wasted my time doing this, but if I do the LQ9 setup I should be done, forever. I will probably contact Mojo and see if there's a cheap option as I don't need his bracket to hold the packs, and I already wired everything for the vvti setup so I think I can just add 3 more connections for the extra 3 coil packs and get them working. Or just rip out all the stuff I just did and do his full harness, it might be better in the long run.

Wow that new sucks.. And this is brand new coil packs that was tested?
It is said to be able to boost over 30psi without a amplifier... What is the car doing at 20psi?

I don't think I've seen anyone pushing around the same power as me with vvti coils. LQ9 is proven on 1000hp+ cars, so I should be fine with these. I now know what I'm doing with these coil conversions so I know I can knock out another one rather quickly.
I ordered brand new AC Delco 10457730 coil packs. I will test fit and make sure it clears before I order the Mojo harness.

That's some luck then? I'm worried if they will fit under the stock intake manifold. Most people on the forum that have converted to LQ9 have swapped the intake manifold to the FFIM before doing the coil pack conversion. I wonder if I will be the first one on a stock manifold trying this?

From my random searching and researching I've seen people make 1/4" to 3/4" spacers that mount in between where the lower runner meets the upper runner providing enough room for the larger height coils. You could possibly find an old upper runner and have the flange hacked off and milled flat and use two gaskets on each side as a spacer.

I've seen quite a bit of people other than the lexus/toyota community run these coils as wasted spark. Was wondering if that was the way you plan to run these as wasted spark or sequential? Running wasted sparked seems a bit easier sense you did the cop conversion already and all that needs to be done is move three wires directly to the ECU.
Also, Mojo states in his instructions that they can be configured to run as wasted spark as well.
