also how much do you think the trans swap has cost total (I know there are many ways to do it) but I kinda want an outline to see if I can sell my 240
I agree! I need more action! I bought a '93 LS400 because your +4 passenger drifting looks so fun! You're an inspiration dude!

Not to revive this for no reason but I found myself knee deep in research for my manual swap and checked the clock, realized I spent my night reading your thread front to back, taking notes and making a list haha. Sad to hear it's being let go but myself and many others really appreciate the pictures, detailed info and even more, your grammar. Nothing worse than trying to figure out someones paragraph typed by a 5 year old. This has saved me countless PM's bugging members for help, thanks buddy

Long delayed response, but you're kindly welcome my friend. That was the true purpose of this thread. I'm glad its been able to help others who had no idea where to begin. Trust me between trial and error and countless hours of research, I probably have more hours into this build than I did Modern Warfare 2 hahaha.

Hah sorry man. First time homeowner so I'm backed up with projects I want to get done. My brother just finished welding up the new diff so as soon I can get the old one out I'll try and take it apart. Do you have any links you can provide on how to disassemble it? Only experience I have with differentials is on transverse mounted transmissions thus significantly easier. I also hope the shaft stubs aren't welded to the gears and thus making it not removable. Then I'll have to get creative lol.

you really should pay for a day of TIS access to get the OEM differential rebuild pages. It's not something to be done lightly as the tolerances are close and the procedure has to be done in a very specific way. Backlash will also need to be adjusted properly.

I don't believe the stubs are welded to the gears at all. I believe there are retaining clips on the inside of the diff that need to be removed into order for the axle stubs to be pulled out of the carrier with a slide hammer, though I can't recall off hand.
