Good thing the FS5W's are cheap as dirt! And they're amazingly simple to work on to boot, so you can always swap pieces between them as parts break.

Good luck, and keep up the good work!
Thanks man! Yeah he told me he's been running the same KA trans for the last ~3 years without issue. He's had a procharger on the car for the last year I believe as well, but he's going to toss a twin disc in it now. I contemplated the idea of going with a Z33 trans since that's the other option he has on this adapter plate but the cost is way to high. Z32 is something I would of definitely opted for, but the availability is just not there compared to these hunks of junk .

With that adapter plate you'd be able to switch to a z32 transmission in the future if you so desired? Would you then need a second custom driveshaft?

How's it coming along? Clutch pedal in yet? By the way, is your friend some kind of evil demon? No one smiles after pulling a dashboard. I had to pull it on my rx-7, and it wasn't THAT bad. But even after reinstalling, I wasn't smiling for a few days.

Z33 6 speed. Yeah I'd need a different driveshaft I believe. Haven't really done anything since I pulled the dash. In the process of cleaning up everyone's crap from the garage. My parents rent out the building for their businesses, the basement has 2 garage bays that are about 3 cars deep each, the very back has all of our business archives and some of our crap, my brother has a ton of tools and garbage, as do I. Cleaning and organizing a bit so I can have more room to work and spread things out.

Next on the list is to remove the TRAC/ABS stuff. I'm going to do what 3UZFE did on his LS and use the same fittings so I can get rid of the lines, modules, and those TRAC canisters next to the brake booster. From there I will move the fuse box and pull the e-brake assembly and try to figure out if I want to do an OEM style pedal with a master through the firewall or a CNC since I now have much more accessibility to make a bracket.

Question for you, did you end up running a cable hand brake on your car? Looking at the cable locations, I thought about maybe running an SC300 one next to the drivers seat next to the door and just utilizing the stock cables, maybe I can loop them or something. I want to keep the stock center console, so I can fit it on either side of the seat since I'm going to be going with a fixed Recaro type bucket for the driver seat which will free up a ton of room on either side. Figured since the cables are already on that side it might be easier to just weld up a bracket to mount it there. It will purely be for parking the vehicle, as I'm going to run a hydro brake as well.

Oh and my friend isn't a Demon, he is just a Volkswagen owner lol. Pretty much everyone in our inner circle has owned at least 1 MK2 VW. I've had 3 Jetta's myself, though on one of his Jetta's he had to do the heater core...you think the LS400 dash sucks? Go do one in a Volkswagen that the dash harness doesn't just unbolt from the fusebox. I seriously rather pull the motor than do a heater core in a MK2. Hell he just did a B4 Passat TDI ('97) swap into the car and it was about 98% bolt in and plug and play. Plug the Passat harness into the 1990 Jetta fusebox and car turned over first try. Still can't understand that.

Volkswagens are easy to work on. Had plenty of modded VW's ranging from mk2s to mk4s and even an audi.

funny we are bulding the same thing and also came from VW's.

pulling dashes is my all-time LEAST favorite car repair job! - sometimes the pieces want to almost crack, even if you do everything by the book and are experienced, just from time age.

and what makes it doubly horrible, is that there are about a 1000 harness/electrical connections and other stuff to hook back up where you are re-installing it, and if you miss one tiny thing you get to do the whole job over again - UGH!

Walter Rohl is a beast, though that's the wrong video. This is the video you should be watching.

I squeezed a sc300 hand brake between the driver seat and center console. I had the guy whole made my shift extension swage a crimp/connector not sure what it's called from the ls400 piece to a shortened sc300 cable. And the hand brake is almost enough to make it functional. When I get around to it, I'm going to get another sc300 cable and equalizer, and have the guy make lines for me that will fit. That probably won't be until summer or fall.

Opinions needed. Started looking today, and I was thinking I haven't heard of anyone trying an OE pedal assembly out of another toyota from that era. Yes they will be different, but I'm sure small modifications could be made to make it work.

Thoughts?

Bolt pattern and shape looks pretty similar to

I bought a stock brake pedal setup to use for fabrication. It will be here shortly. The idea is to cut the clutch pedal portion of it off, weld it to the stock brake pedal setup, and then bend and cut the clutch pedal because it is too long and will be clashing with the stock brake pedal. Also considered a MKIII Supra setup.

Think that's what I'm going to do. Found a thread on here in an SC that a guy used a MK3 pedal setup. They used an SC pedal on an LS so somehow I will make it work .
