Default My first build thread, M45 Projector Retrofit

hello

very few know me on the forum, so hello

growing tired of my s2000 retrofit performed by chrispy (which will be for sale soon), I decided to venture into the retrofit world for myself.

I was searching for a pair of cheap headlights to use, and I found a forum member who had a set for cheap!

USPS did their "job" oh so well

luckily, the seller is a stand up guy, and gave a partial refund

off to home depot i went for Loctite's plastic bonding system to fix this

and it was as good as 'new' (sorry folks, didnt snap a pic

lenses were pretty beat, so sanding and polishing time. wetsanded from 800 to 1000 then 3000 then polish

then this

then this

and they came out looking like this

off to the projectors. I went to hidplanet to search, asked a member here, and still don't think I have achieved a decent cutoff. after spacing the lense, shield, and washer mods

tested with ddmtuning 35watt ballast and 5k ddmtuning bulb. will be using 85122cm bulbs for the road.

to be continued......

for that picture: three spacers behind the lens, added a washer behind the shield, 4 washers on the bottom of the housing, 3 on the top and that was the output

the cutoff you currently have on that pic is actually really good. the step is sharp also but to be honest when your driving you dont really see that cutoff and color too much unless your in front of a car or wall lol. but you will still have the flicker effect with the cutoff you have

I have stock halogen, I'm retrofitting a halogen headlight to use an hid projector.

For those with factory hid, you can use the brackets from Luxurymods to retain your auto level

The cut off is super good, because theres no lens on it. Expect to lose like close 40% sharpness with the lens. You'll still see the cutoff when driving.

Nope, retrofits have nothing to do with the autolevel

So I should try to make it better than it looks now?

the plastic lens from your headlight still looks kinda hazy and thats gonna make your cutoff line look a little less sharp when you put it all back together, i didnt know until i put it back together and my cutoff line didnt look the same as it did before i put it back in the housing, if you havent sealed it yet i would suggest try sanding and polishing the lens as good as you can get it to be, clear like sc300jz will be best but i think it might be hard to get it there.
