i think that's an understatement of the year. not only is the drive shaft being a big ***** the rear subframe bolts dont want to budge unless I add heat. so under car with torch and a welding sleeves and it being 40 outside doesn't help ether!

Yeah working on a car outside just isnt a good idea. I hate it.. Sometimes thats all you have to deal with. Hang in there!!

You can try alternating heat with sprays of dust off to cool it rapidly, but it can break your bolts. You probably have already done this.

I think that no matter how cheap you got the car -you should have started with a different one due to the rust and since you intend to race it. If the rust was only cosmetic -that probably would be fine but it looks like there is a lot of structural rust. I have a parts car that would have been cheaper than what you will be investing to fix all of the structural. And I am sure there are other cars out there with less rust.

Sorry to be a downer -but I am just not a fan of serious rust. I once lost a Porsche 914 race car prior to the build when I discovered structural rust from the inside out on the subframe. I scrapped it due to the intensity of rust repair that would have been required. On a car rusted like that -you just keep on finding more and more rust that requires fixing and it will eventually drive you penny-less.

well i do know how to weld so that helps. however i understand where your coming from. the rust is only on the rear subframe, and rockers from what i have seen. so im going to get it up and running and see how it goes. however there is a rust free sc400 with a cage i been looking at to replace the car if it is too bad.

yes, chrisindub i been doing so however i been letting it cool down more and more so i dont snap off a bolt.
