Default My IS350 progression thread

UPDATED 07/30/13 - See post #42

I've never done one of these, but I thought it would be nice to actually track my progress on a build for once. I'm going to write this like a story, rather than just a giant picture dump. Comments/suggestions/criticism are welcome.

It all started for me last year when I got bored of modifying my old car towards the end of August 2011. It just wasn't doing it for me anymore. Rather than dump any more money into, I drove it as is for a couple months while I decided what would come.

Here's a quick shot a friend of mine took:

The Scion tC was returned back to stock shortly after this picture was taken.

So in October 2011, I test drove an S2000 and it honestly was way too small for me (6'2" 195lbs); I felt claustrophobic. Next test drive was a 350Z. Honestly, I loved it, but the car was BEAT. Turns out that it is quite hard to find a 350Z in good condition. I saw an ad for a 370Z and decided to give it a shot. After test driving it, I came back and saw an IS350 on the lot. I thought about a 2IS a few months ago, but brushed them off as too slow. The car looked so nice though, so I asked if I could drive it. I immediately fell in love. It was fast and comfortable: a feat I didn't think was possible within my price range.

Did the paperwork that night and drove my IS350 home. I went back for a few things the next morning and took a snap of the 2 cars side by side:

I originally planned to leave the IS fairly stock and I really thought I wasn't going to do much

I ordered V-leds to replace all the lights and an HID kit.

My girlfriend was driving my car on New Years Eve and ended up clipping something while turning.

I drove it through winter of 2011/2012 without a single thought of modding the car.

In April 2012, I broke my ankle and had surgery later:

Needless to say, I did a lot of sitting at home: reading, watching TV, etc. I spent a little too much time on Club Lexus and I decided that since i was saving so much money by not going out, I would buy some things for the car. So the part hoarding began. Wheels and tires came first (thanks to Juvi22003), then I found a deal on an authentic Wald lip kit I couldn't pass up. Only thing missing was a set of coilovers: BC br from Circuit Motorsports.

At the end of July 2012, I was itching to start installing everything. I had the previous door damage refinished and had the lip kit painted.

A friend of mine was going to help me install the coilovers since my ankle wasn't back to 100% yet. I put the wheels on one night, so we could properly adjust everything the next morning. LOL at wheels and stock height: lasted a whole 9 hours.

No pics of install, but here he is doing some cutting to fit the wheels.

Pics taken after wheels, coils and kit were on:

Only thing added since then is a Junction Produce Gintsuna:

Thanks for reading! I will try to keep updating as new things are added to the car.

I'm in Chicago. It has a Wald trunk spoiler in the pictures. Not too sure what I'm going to do about exhaust/roof spoiler yet

Redouts always seemed ghetto to me.
