Thanks guys . I still have another 450 miles to go before I am done on my break in. So I am driving it like a grandma so I don't feel like taking a video on my phone yet.

My problem is I don't leave home every day so I hardly put miles on my cars. But I will reach that point when break in will be over on this car.

Hahaha , it will reach there. You and I know that within a 3 mile radius we have everything we possibly want so we don't really travel much where we live in , this part of GA.

I am thinking of using it to one of my trip back home in the South so break in will be done round trip but that will bore me to death with the speed and rpm limits of break in.

Default 1997 Cluster Tach Resistor Fix

As mentioned before, I installed a 1997 Gauge Cluster on this 1992 SC300 Red Mamba 2jzgte swap. They have better stock lighting and they break less compared to those of the lower years. For the tach to work , got to jump a resistor.

For 1997 its R2 , for the lower years it is R109 or R73. For 1998 and above you don't need to do anything. I personally verified that of the 2000.

When you remove those screws, you make sure you know where they go cause they are not of all of same kind or length

There is your R2 resistor that you need to short or put a jumper wire across its leads thereby bypassing the resistance .

i had a chance to get a 97 cluster, but my car is a manual, so having the auto P,R,D,3,2,1 would have looked awkward. I'm going to just replace my cluster with LED bulbs.

Going back through this build thread, I thought I posted a video of my start up on the Red Mamba..

Here it is ... click on the picture for the video to load

the worst thing you can do on a newly built engine on break in is let it idle for a long time. You need to get that RPM between 1500-3000RPM

I am still on some birth pains for Red Mamba. Two days ago, I had some electrical gremlins with my lights and moonroof on my way home from Athens, GA. I also have an oil leak as you can see on the pavement ... gggrrrr. It is coming from my 2nd Turbo drain hose. It has a small hole, damn it, that will be a pain to replace.

Took White Diamond (Still Red in color, damn, it badly needs a paint job. Time to do some painting.) for a spin today. And took some pictures with Red Mamba

I hear you. But they will not be lit and will be dark so probably wont see them very clearly . It will be tough though to find a 97 manual cluster so fixing your bulbs will be your best bet

Thank you my friend . Now , on with my 3rd 2jzgte SC before I search for an SC430 and transplant a 2jzgte also into it. I wonder how I will top these two now in terms of engine bay looks. It will probably have a combination of polished / chromed and black parts , though it will definitely have more power than these two.

I will paint those parts for you buddy when I am into painting that is if you are not in a hurry to have them done now.

Right now I am at a crossroad between "shall I do painting" or "work on my 3rd SC" . I have all the drive train for the Blue Angel SC ready. I don't want them sitting around for a long time specially the engine that's why I am inclined to do that first. Which means painting will be at the back burner. I can paint your stuff though when warm weather is really here.

Cosmetics on my SCs for me can come later. They are not show cars , just sleeper toys .

Since it ain't summer yet which is the best time for painting, I will go ahead and slowly commence work on the Blue Angel. It is currently beige but will eventually be RSP with Black Interior. I will tow it tomorrow towards my drive way so I can start work on it. It's another 1992 SC400 which I took from Mark (1jzpwrd) as a swap with a brand new MKIV TT Auto Differential. Another 20 months and I won't have anymore inspections / emissions on my 3 1992 SCs.

Gosh , it looks pitiful now but good thing is it has a clean title and rust free body being a true Southern Car from Day 1 of its existence.I will transform it into the 1997 look so I have the 3 generation SC looks.

Sounds good Mang Gerrb! Might as well work on your RSP then paint them all. LMK when I can pick up my Black Pearl.

Trying to get the miles for my break in so I can push the car with more boost, I went for a drive to the lake near my place. Damn, I am beginning to like stock 2jzgte cars again..instant response from the accelerator, fires right up and so smooth, STOCK ECU for the WIN, perfect for a daily driver......NO LAG associated with the big turbos which I got accustomed with my other 2jzgte toys.

Snapped a good number of pictures. This car eventually will also need a paint job since clear coat on the trunk is peeling off but I can live with it for now till I am able to paint it myself.
