This morning I opened up some storage bins trying to find out what I don't need and can throw away tomorrow since its thrash day , found a Pioneer with NAV and Backup camera so decided , it will be a fitting addition to the Old Man Tan , but now I got to find ways to fill up that space. I wish I can relocate the ProEFI can display logger in there by removing also the ashtray but it wont fit.

BTW , anybody wanting the complete stock radio system with the trunk CD changers , come by my place . They are free ....before they go to the trash bin . I have at least 3 sets which I don't need. Sorry I am not shipping ...

I used to have the gerrb tags on my first 4 MKIVs. Took them out when those particular MKIVs had been sold one by one and have been replaced with other 4 MKIVs with better drive/ power train setup as seen on my signature now . Am now applying for new tags for them namely 4U2NV-1 , 4U2NV-2 , 4U2NV-3 , 4U2NV-4

As soon as I get all my SCs painted , I will get the gerrb tags moved into the SCs

Black Pearl will have the original GERRB tag .. being the trophy SC

^^^ dang you have been going around .... then TX

Did some work on Red Mamba Two today . I decided to save $300 by doing the dual 3" exhaust myself instead of bringing the car to the exhaust shop . I tried to gather some courage that I can do the welding my self so I did. It is not the prettiest welding job but I can live with it. What was important was there was no exhaust leaks . Saving $300 for a go fast goody was better for me than a good looking welding job which wouldn't be seen by anybody after all since it is under the car. Beside it will look better once I spray paint that exhaust when the car undergoes painting job.

Now the car has a good rumble at idle ....

I am glad we now have a poly-urethane AC kit , otherwise a fiberglass kit like the original AC or Shine kit will never last . Like I basically have 2 mm clearance in some dips of my drive way . Still waiting for APTech for their rear diffuser and see if I like their design before I get this car to the paint shop. That's basically the only thing I want this car to have before painting .... oh and a good head lights restoration by KingPhilip. But that will be after the paint job.

Gerrb, this really is the mother of all build threads. Respect.
I spent a big part of my vacation last summer, reading your thread. Very inspiring.
Have you ever thought of adding a boosted 1uz- torque monster to your collection?

^^^ Thank you sir !

If I had your skils in welding 9 years ago , I might have gone ahead with a monster twin 1UZ on my first SC400. To build a reliable high rwhp/torque monster 1UZ , you will have to build its internals and every accessory like turbos , bov , wastegate , etc are doubled in quantity . So the price goes up there. Then there was not a lot of aftermarket support for a high rwhp/torque 1UZ. You have limited companies producing aftermarket camshafts , rods , pistons and other internal parts. What that means is whoever had them were selling them for a premium. For external parts , you basically also had no companies fabricating off the shelf twin turbo manifolds, down pipes , midpipes , 4" exhausts, etc . You have to do a lot of the fabrication otherwise again your cost goes up there if you have to rely on someone else doing it for you. It wasn't the best bang for the buck for me when it came to HP(torque) per dollar.

Then I was fooled by a damn member here who was also an SF member on my first SC project so I turned my attention on MKIVs that got me hooked up with the 2JZGTE platform , learned more and more about them... how lethal they can be so I stayed with them . That is what motivated me to give my 4 SCs the 2JZGTE power plants . And having 8 2JZGTE cars now (4 MKIVs / 4 SCs) , I don't feel like going into another platform. I got all the power and fun I would ever need with my land speed toys . Maybe , eventually one of the two speed boats I have will eventually have a 2JZGTE. I haven't scratched out that idea yet .

Today , I will continue working on the Red Mamba Two. Yesterday , I did some welding and installed the dual 3" exhaust so I have to reinstall properly my rear bumper . I will also rework on my quarter panels so they will look better . I did lay on top of the trunk, the 92-96 stock spoiler and see how it looks. I believe I am installing it too since it looks good with the AC poly kit and with the Origin Roof Spoiler. What do you guys think ?

Irving , I am waiting for your rear diffuser so I can get this car painted or paint it myself maybe ?..... hahaha.... done literally everything on this car from engine assembly , whole body and engine wiring , all mechanical work and now even the exhaust ... so I might as well paint it too . But I want this car to be a good looking SC so it should have a top notch paint job .

Yeah I am with you gerrb, waiting on someone to make a good looking rear diffuser. Anything at all would be nice to have for this chassis, even if it's just for looks to give it a more aggressive appearance. Maybe just make it myself?

yeah a good rear diffuser will add to the looks of our cars. I want one on the Red Mamba Two just to make it look good. This car will be my run around the city or errand car so it should look good. It doesn't have to be very fast with the traffic around Atlanta .. hahaha ... 500 rwhp on its 2jzgte is all I want for Red Mamba Two . That will allow me to have some short speed bursts . I will work on getting the Red Mamba Two a good looking car. I will add whatever will make it look good even if not necessarily fast since it will be an errand car. It has a good black interior so it should have a good exterior too.

I will wait for APTech's spoiler design too and see how it looks. Though at this point , their current rocket bunny design is not something that appeals to me . The 92 rear spoiler is still the perfect spoiler for me for our cars . . Having been designed at the factory , am sure they did some air flow tests on it so it doesn't only enhance the looks of the car but also is functional. I just wished it was a bit higher..... not to high though or it creates some drag .

Today I will do some exhaust work on the Black Pearl. The more you do welding work , the better you enhance your welding skills so I will continue to work on stuff that needs welding and are not too delicate in nature or doesn't need to be so pretty . That will save me tons of money too if I do some of these fabrications rather than someone else doing them for me. With my power goal on this car , exhaust plays a critical role for me to attain that goal. The engine has to breath . Currently the Red Mamba One and the Old Man Tan has 4" exhausts all the way.... from turbo to their single exhaust muffler. The Red Mamba Two has 3" from turbo all the way to a dual 3" exhaust.

For Black Pearl , 5" exhaust calls for it with my +1500rwhp power goals . But a damn 5" exhaust all the way is a crazy loud / noisy exhaust at idle and cruising RPMs which I hate. Even my 4" exhausts with Super Dragger / GT Spec mufflers are not as quiet as I wanted especially with a lumpy engine having aftermarket cams or bigger head valves. What I will do is for idling and cruising , I will muffle the sound by having dual 3" mufflers . On the merge, I will install a 5" pipe that merge to the 5" midpipe using V-bands. Then to the 5" downpipe that connects to the turbine housing. The flow of 2 x 3" pipes is not same as the flow of a 5" pipe at full tilt (you need 3 x 3" pipe to equal the flow of 1 x 5" pipe ) so I will also install a 5" cutout pipe coming from the 5" midpipe. So at a certain power level or boost or when it is needed , the 5" cutout valve opens up and there will be no restriction on the exhaust but at the same time at idle or cruising I don't have a damn noisy exhaust since the cutout pipe will be closed and every exhaust gas is going through the dual 3" pipe which will be quieter than a full 5" exhaust pipe.

Just took out the Black Pearl stock catback exhaust ....at the bottom of the dual 3" exhaust. And compared to the true 3" dual exhaust, there is a big difference already. At the merge of the dual 3" , I will weld a 5" pipe. A five inch downpipe , midpipe and exhaust has to be properly tucked in there or you will barely have ground clearance specially if your car is lowered.

Here is the 5" pipe I will weld on the dual 3" merge area then a 5" vband to the midpipe . But for now , that 5" vband has to be connected to the 3" piping I currently have towards the stock twins just to keep the car running. Just like I said , even if I am slowly upgrading parts on this Black Pearl , parts needed for the +1500 build , I want to make sure it is not down for long periods of time meaning it should be up and running always even with the part by part upgrades until I reach my +1500rwhp goal .

gerrb,

It looks like your pretty much done with the exhaust, but I was curious if you considered a double-offset muffler (like OEM) instead of the on-center mufflers you're using. It appears your mufflers are angled outward because of the on-center design.

FWIW, Vibrant Performance 1127s are 3", straight-through, double offset and align straight out the back of the car: http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...ef1128cda905c8

They sound great and easily powered my car to 880rwhp. If you're going for a full "sleeper" look, the 1127s look great and have OEM fitment.

Here's my exhaust (very much like yours):
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j.../exhaust-1.jpg

and how it looks on the car at the track: http://i40.tinypic.com/2vvnrqf.jpg

Just a thought...

-scott

Scott - thanks for that info. I had this true dual 3" exhaust for at least 3 years now. I believe they can pass the sleeper look from the rear . It came from my buddy Mark (1JZPwrd ) and they made 780rwhp with 3" from turbo to the dual 3" exhaust on Jay's built SC300 / 2jzgte / V160 . Now that I have the opportunity , I will try to make good use of it so I can have a good subtle sound / rumble at idle or cruising speed .

With a goal of +1500rwhp ... a 5" exhaust necessitates it but I hate to have the idle / cruising noise of a 5" exhaust ALL THE TIME thus muffling it with dual 3" was for me an excellent solution.... only using the 5" exhaust cutout valve when it is needed so the engine can breath freely and get into that +1500rwhp territory.

Now Black Pearl will have a good exhaust system subtle enough for idle , cruising speed and even up to 700-800rwhp with the true dual 3" but it opens up to 5" plus the dual 3" at full power . Buying ready made 5" downpipe / midpipe and getting your catback modified for 5" and having a 5" cutout on your midpipe will cost you tons of money aside from the fact that you are limited to very few sellers. At Full-Race , the damn 5" downpipe is $1200 and same price for the 5" midpipe.. then you still got to do the other 5" modifications. So doing it yourself will save you tons of money. You could afford to pay for your home use Miller Multimatic 200 Tig / Mig / Stick Welding machine just with this work .

How many families and people live in that house lol. What do you have gerrb like 20 vehicles on the lot? That's more than some used car dealerships around here.
