Default Satin Black Paint on the LS... a work in progress.

Ok so it's been a while since I've actually started a thread. Mainly because my car was involved in a pretty bad wreck (not at fault) and GEICO initially refused to take responsibility for it. It ended up being a year long ordeal and it's been in and out of the shop due to numerous reasons including poor body panel alignment and electrical issues. (This can actually be an entirely new thread so I'll stop here!) Moving forward to present time I've had it repainted in Satin Black. It's base coat/clear coat finish utilizing a flattening agent in the clear so that it's not glossy. It's fairly easy to maintain, can be waxed and washed like normal and it doesn't show as many flaws as the gloss paint. It also looks very aggressive in my opinion. So let the opinions, comments, and suggestions flow (good, bad, and ugly).

Damn I like. I always loved that flat satin black look. Im thinking of doing something like that but with vinyl wrap so I have the option of going back pretty easy.

Car looks great, can't even tell it was ever in an accident (which is the point I suppose...). Nice choice in color, looks higher quality than the vinyl wraps I've seen. Love the rims too, goes well with the black exterior.

Sorry, I think that looks wrong on a luxury car, especially a Lexus. IMO, that look belongs on a T-bucket or similar type car.

I think it looks sweet. But I think if the rims were another color in the center, maybe gold or bronze it would set it off.

I think your car looks nice. The look of it reminds me of what the modern day mad max would drive.

IMO.. I would get that bright red decal off & match or change the facing of the rim. Or if you like the red take off the smoke rear tail light covers, get the rims painted = lip red& face satin black and call it a day 4 a tough looking LS.

Considered Vinyl too, opted for the real deal because it needed to be repainted anyway and I've thought about this for a long time... I was committed to the color.

Thanks, I'm actually planning on switching wheels next so that they fit a bit more flush than these... not sure what I want just yet.

Thanks, I think the wheels will be next. I'm liking the Vossen wheels!

Do it, I get lots of stares and lots of comments... not always good ones but I did this for myself and not for the crowds.

Thanks for the comments. I did this because I've not seen anyone do this to an LS and I just had to do something different. I've always liked the Hot Rod look... my son calls it "Batman Black" (he's only 10)

Thanks, I own a tattoo shop here in town so that decal is actually my advertising for the website... I like the red wheels idea and have actually thought about that color combination. Wheels are next on the menu.

I'm liking the angel eyes but why the big gap as its 75-80% of a full circle?
