Default Yet another 2GS build.....

About a month and a half ago I posted a thread about how my 2GS got hit while it was parked right in front of work. Well, the situation sucked (Other driver had no license, no insurance, and bench warrants = he rode home in the back seat of a cop car), but you got to try and make the best of it, right? It’s been a long road, but the car should be coming back together soon enough, and better than new I might add. Here's a pic of the carnage:

In the accident, my AME CX wheel pretty much got destroyed. I contacted Simple Wheel Werks in Cali and they sourced out a new barrel and are in the process of rebarreling the wheel as we speak. It should be completed within another week or two. Being the impatient **** that I am, I picked up a set of 20” VS-XX’s in the mean time to roll on, in case the AME doesn’t get back in time. Can never go wrong with an extra set of kicks, especially if they’re VS-XX’s right? Quick test fit with the 20's, and yes that is almost an inch of dust on the car:

In the accident, pretty much my entire left rear suspension needed to be replaced. I took the opportunity to contact Mike @ Figs Engineering and am getting custom lowering Mega arms made, as well as replacing the damaged toe links with adjustable ones by Figs as well. I also recently (well, haha it’s actually been a few months, but I hardly drive the GS, so it seems recent.) installed a set of Tein CS2’s along with the EDFC. For a while now, I’ve also been thinking of doing an LS brake upgrade, so I figured since the suspension was going to be apart…….might as well right? I picked up a set of LS calipers from a member here and ordered a set of R1 Slotted/drilled rotors front and rear with Posi-Quiet ceramic pads. These just showed up the other day:

As for the body, I’ll be having some minor custom work done. My quarters were already pulled and body worked, but I’ll now be getting my fenders pulled and body worked to match. I picked up a authentic TTE Lip from a friend locally and will probably shave my front side markers too. I picked up a set of window visors, and a new roof spoiler as well to go along with the rest of the build. Then I'll get the rest of the dings and scratches done along with a complete paint job. Damn it's been such a long time since I've driven the car. Can't wait til it's done. I'm at the shop now, so I'll post some pics of the fender work soon.

I've used those R1 rotors in the past on my old G35 do they still produce rust or have they come out with something to combat that?

Not too sure, as I haven't thrown these on yet. I read up a little about them and they seem to have pretty nice reviews. Especially considering the price. I was mainly looking for something along the lines of stock replacement or just a little better and these fit the bill. I'll update in the future if there are any issues.

haha, I hear you. I figured if the car was going to need some paint work, may as well take advantage.

Thanks bro. I think I pulled the fronts a juuuuuusssssssssstttttttttttt a touch too much before I had my guy body work it though. I wanted to try and keep the front pull a little less aggressive than the rear, but as it turns out, they're right about the same. I need to re-body work the left quarter anyway since it was damaged in the accident, so I may just have them pull the rear a little bit more. Either way, I think it should work out ok since I really wanted to go with a wider tire anyways.( I'm thinking of going back to my 245/35 and 275/30 set up. )
