The engine should be done any day, the transmission should be done any day, and the paint will commence after the Lexus meet next weekend.

I was going back and forth on what to do about the excessive heat being produced in my engine compartment...When you turbo in the engine bay, the heat created is tremendous, so it needs to be vented...But, I have not seen one vented, CF hood that I really like. Nor, am I excited about installing a CF hood...They require hood pins to be safe, they are too light for the stock hood struts, and they tend to yellow and crack from the heat...I know I could paint the CF black, but I am still not excited...So, I searched and searched, and I found two vents that are a perfect match for my project...They will be integrated right into the stock hood...Man, are they gorgeous...Wish I could have this all done by the Lexus meet...But I tell you this, my goal to make a SuperCar Luxury Exotic SC400 is panning out!!! These vents are awesome...And there is no other Lexus out there that will look like mine...

Damn, this is exciting!! Black, chrome and polished billet for the exterior of this car...The Black Knight...

Soon to be tuned...Unique...One-of-a Kind...

Yeah!!!!

Ryan

you mind posting some pics of these vents and showing where you got them?

i would love to avoid a whole new hood as well

I will post them up when they are installed on the car...I will not know exactly how they will look until then...I Want to help you out, but not wanting to help you to have the same thing as me, since I am going for custom and exclusivity...Plus, this will probably cost quite a bit to have the hood cut and the vents installed. Plus, the exact placement of the vents in the hood has not been established, since we need to avoid the structural sections of the hood so that it will remain rigid...So, I am reluctant to state wheree I got them...Let's wait until they are installed...you may not like them...

Vents off a vr4 or a Cherokee 5.9 would work -- and when you remove them you can just trace the cutout for a template-- an easy self install --

ryan, i strongly suggest that you dyno this car before the new motor goes in. that would be a huge bennefit to the other 400 owners looking to go turbo.

How about pleasantly ask, instead of strongly suggest......??? As you all already know, I do plan to tune on the stock motor, and dyno, and then swap to the built 1UZ....

Jujst dealing with getting the Cad Cam done myself, to assist in the manufacture of the fuel mod so that the fuel mod for the 8 extra injectors is able to be installed and the engine tuned.....

Which intercooler did you go with on this project?

I know it has sort of a funky inlet/outlet design, is that custom end tanks or was it ordered that way?

it is not funky at all...It is just not a horizontal flow FMIC, but a vertical...Because of the 2 turbos, and space issues, I wanted an efficient design, as well as a way to easily deliver the air to the FMIC. This is actually a custom made FMIC from Bell Intercoolers....
