SC400TT Project Car Stage II
#47
I knew someone would comment on that....The car was not even on...I only turned the key to accessory to turn on the lights, so the engine was not running, and at idle, one would expect to idle at somewhere around 14 A/F... When driving a car, the A/F varies widely, think about it...When letting off on the acclerator and the engine is under no load, the A/F will go off the chart, but it is not a problem...
So, don't get your panties in a wedgie...

course ryan is absolutly correct on the A/F in that situation.
For N/A cars 14.7 A/F is perfect @ idle & under load.
On boosted cars the criteria changes. At idle, cruise & other non-load
situations 14.7 is also good. BUT under any load (positive pressure)
the A/F should start going rich. The ideal relationship 0- 5 psi A/F 13 'ish,
that will help spool the turbo quicker & reduce lag. (tuned on a DYNO)
5 psi & up 11-11.5 A/F is good & safe.
I'm VERY conservative my pump gas A/F (18/19 psi) is 10-10.5, rich lowers
your HP but is very safe if a spark knock occurs.
High boost (only 28psi - don't want to beat on it) w/ 50% C16 mix is 11 A/F.
The dyno queens looking for "the big #" will run 12.5 or leaner. But your
getting on the ragged edge there & has its consequences - BOOM.

I'm personally looking forward to a turbo'd GS400. Same engine, different placement of oil filter, among other things. I know that TTTurboPimp's GS4 had twin GT2835's and spooled at 2800 rpm. When duz a GT40 spool for a 1UZ?

FYI, Gang...My car is back in the shop with Frank, He is working on the exhausts, (raise them up a bit more), and we are still awaiting the 6 inch HQ Steel flex tube for the exhausts as well, apparently on backorder... long wait from this supplier, but it is the best one available...
Frank is also tweaking the system so that it is right for the meet coming up in December...
We are awaiting the fuel mod so that I can install it and add the 8 additional JDM Supra TT 440 cc injectors, and install the piggy-back ECU. Until then, I cannot tune the car and dyno it, as it will naturally run lean very quickly and we do not want that...
I finally got a message from Wilwood...The rear BBK is finally complete, and will be shipping out to me this Monday, Nov 6th....So, I am planning a Big Brake install this coming weekend...
The shop doing my paint is phenomenal, and does Show Quality work...Only problem, he has so much insurance work in right now, that he may not be able to get to my car and paint it by the December Lexus meet and show... SO, I will have to decide whether or not to take a chance and send it to him before the show, or wait until after the show and paint it...I haven't decided yet...Decisions, decisions...

my recomendation from experience is dont even try to rush the paint....get the car running right and bugs worked out before paint....do the show with no paint....next year wow em with a beautiful paint job.....NEVER rush a painter......
you have put too much time and effort into your project to rush a paint job....
what are you gonna use for an aic?....
i have an HKS aic here at the house id sell cheap....
and where is the dec meet?

still no return line for me, but your exhausts are tucked up nice now. for all of you who don't know, i'm the token white boy that's always at franks shop. i think i'll post up my woman's car after the motor is done and the big turbo is on. might give ryans car a run for his money
