The FD and SC are two different cars for sure. 
The sc is a nice fast cruiser and is comfortable while the FD is loud, obnoxious, attracts too many penises, and handles like it's on rails though. 
It's like dating two chicks with different personalities. You got the high maintenance asian chick (FD) that demands the attention, but rewards you in the end and you got the blonde (SC) that's easy to maintain but it's comfortable and fast at the same time. Well, that's been my experience women at least.

but when the royal purple went in-it would always go in reverse and shifted decently smooth. I wouldnt throw that option out and im sure OP will have good luck with it!
