Default Prodigy626's Build Thread.

Hey guys I just picked up my first Lexus the other day since my previous vehicle was stolen.

1996 SC300 2jz-ge 5 Speed
There is 193k on the clock and it has a fully rebuilt motor- everything new mechanically. I picked it up from my moms friend who is a mechanic and the car is very clean inside and out so I think I got a good deal.

Ive been browsing the boards and decided I just want to go with more of a show car until I could afford a fresh 2jzgte because of so many miles on this motor.

So for plans first im getting a drop and rims. Probably some Tien Basics and a staggered set of deep dish Mesh style rims. Then a vertex style of lip kit, -still deciding on a spoiler- and jdm window visors.

Any recommendations for the Front Lip for a 96', I like the 'wise' front lip but are there any other options I could check out? I don't want to change my front bumper just a lip kit for personal reasons.

Also Could anyone tell me the differences between the years as far as bumpers go? I know 97+ is much different but I noticed some stores selling 92-95 specific lip kits, error or is there a difference from 95' to 96'?

Im also on a bit of a budget considering i'm 16 and i dumped all my money on my last car only to have it stolen and get less than half of my investments back from my insurance.

Picture of my last car for reference-

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal, especially with a rebuilt motor. Looks really clean too! If I were you, I would turbo your existing motor seeing as its practically new, rather than going with a GTE.

Yeah but that wont be for quiet some time regardless of what I plan to do as far as performance. But even though its rebuilt you think it will last? I know with Hondas when its time to go - its time to go as far as the motor.

Thanks-

I was also wondering 1 of my headlights and both of my foglights need to be wet sanded but on the headlight its on the inside. Would the dealership hook me up on this because it is like a defective light and is all yellow on the inside? Or do i need to buy new lights or should i just take it to a body shop and have them wet sand it?

Thanks for the info.

DaveH on supraforums.com pulled a 200k mile 2jzge out of a wrecked car and boosted it to run a 9sec 1/4 mile on stock internals. You'll be fine for a great while, especially with a rebuilt motor.

Spend $20 and buy a Mother's Mini Powerball as well as some Plastx and buff those headlights out yourself

Its on the inside of the headlight though, the fog lights I can do because its on the outside but not on the headlight and I dont really want to go through the trouble of opening them up and all that.

Thanks for the input and comments though guys.

Tein Basic's are garbage...

Get Powered By Max, they're inexpensive (1000 + shipping) and are dampening adjustable and go very low.
