You'll need to change out your spray gun in order to use the aftermarket foam cannon. The adapter is just a coupler to convert from M23 to M22 thread. Female or male end depends on which gun you go with. Look to spend around $30-40 for the gun/adapter. I bought my spray gun from Amazon and the adapter from eBay.
Can you post links of the gun and adapter you bought? Thank you..

I also bought the 1/4" quick disconnect fitting from Home Depot just because I rather not have to unscrew the gun from the hose every time. It's optional so if you don't want the quick disconnect, just find a gun with threaded ends.

My main issue was that my hose came with M22 x 15mm seal cone. It won't fit the regular 14mm stuff. Bring your hose to home depot and see if any of the accessories fit. If so, then you just need to buy a new spray gun.

I ended up returning the Harbor Freight power washer. It was a pita to get anything to fit it. Probably pick up a Ryobi or Sun Joe unit this week..

A bit off topic but whenever I need to power wash I go to a local self service car wash station. I live on a hill and the soap and water just makes a big ugly scene. That said, in my experience, power washing with or without soap doesn't do very much to get the dirt off, especially on the door panels and even the rear end. For this reason, I use rinse less products by Optimum.

I have the AR Blue Clean AR383 1,900 PSI electric pressure washer bought from Amazon with a MTM foam cannon but i had to buy the foam cannon adapter from AR. My only complaint is their wand attachments are proprietary (maybe?) i believe and not the standard type of screw on attachment. it has like a wing type of insert taht goes into the gun where u have to press and twist so it locks in. Otherwise, machine has worked perfectly for the past few years ive had it. Made quick work of doing a quick wash on two cars the other day.
