Default Window Tinting

Hey guys, just got a 99 ES 300. I want to get a window tint job done. Should I get 50% all around except windshield with 35 % rear windshield, or Llumar Air 80 clear film on front windows and 35-50% rear windows? I don't want to deal or get pulled over by the police. Any advice, I'm in NY. Thanks!

Ultimately it is up to you... 50% is very light, and I personally wouldn't even bother at that point. 35% is still very light IMO, and is the least amount of tint I would get.

My previous car was 5% on all windows except the windshield and I was never pulled over. It was too dark for me though... I would have to roll my windows down to see when I was in reverse at night. My current car is 35% on all windows except the windshield, and again, I have never been pulled over.

I went 35% all around, except windshield. It gets the job done without looking too suspicious for cops. And visibility at night is good. You can still see through the car with no problem.

Note, the tint may look darker than it is if your car is a lighter color.

In New York, the laws are 70% all around for sedans. I feel like 35 maybe a bit darker on the color of my car (I attached a photo below). How do you guys feel about 50% front and 35% back? or 50% all around.

5%

35%
Looks sick but it's still considered legal in IL where you're from :/

The 35% is legal, yes.. but the 5% was certainly not. I have never been troubled by law enforcement for window tint, and honestly, unless you give them another reason to pull you over, I have never heard of anyone being stopped solely for dark tint. But again, it is ultimately your decision.

Ha, it only looked like that for about a week... then I changed to these forgestars & installed my tom's carbon fiber lip, sides, and diffuser.

New Lexus's from the early 90's came from the factory with tint. Don't they still?

i currently have 35%. but had 5% before.

35% is light, but legal.
5% is dark, makes the car look way better. just not fun to drive at night. i had to always roll down my front two windows to see other cars for when i turn lanes. plus i was always paranoid about being pulled over by cops

My LS had 13% all around and I found it a little too light. I want to go down to 10% or lower next time around.

35% fronts and 20% rears is my favorite combo. The fronts aren't as dark and usually isn't targeted by law enforcement.

35% SunTek Ceramic on everything but the windshield. I was a skeptic on ceramic tint...I'm not now. Worth it.
