2016 Lexus RX Clear Coat
Hello,
There is a new clear coat that has been applied to all Lexus RX 2016 paints. In the manual it states that it can last 10+ years and self heals minor scratches etc.
With this on, do I still need to purchase a clear coat like Cquartz?
Thanks!

Hi - this "self healing" clear coat has been the topic of conversation many times over the years. This technology was first introduced on the LS models years ago, but I think almost everyone will agree that it is not as beneficial as they make it out to be.
In fact, most people will tell you there is no noticeable difference for the owner. The vehicle will still develop swirl marks and scratches just the same if it is not properly cared for, so you still need to be extra careful when washing and drying. It will also require the same type of protection (wax, sealant, or nano coating) as "regular" clear coats.
Basically - treat it like any other car. Wash, decontaminate, polish, and protect it as normal.
