question on 3M plastic fender and hood wrap
Hello all, someone on the GS forum suggested I ask my question here.
My new '15 has 1/3 hood and fenders as well as bumpers and mirrors. To take that off (hood and fenders) and add a full hood and full fenders would cost me $1000. I am wondering if this is a worthwhile upgrade to the 1/3. I have 3m Pro Series on there right now and that is what I would use for the full hood and fenders.
Thank you

In my opinion, it is a worthy investment... but you can weigh the benefits vs cost for yourself.
While 1/3 of the hood & fenders will protect some of the chips, you will inevitably get debris that impacts the paint beyond the coverage of the partial wrap. On my IS, for instance, which has no clear bra ( ) the majority of my chips do reside on the front most portion of the hood, but I have some major chips all the way up near the windshield on both the fenders and hood.
A ballpark on having the front end (fenders and hood) repainted would likely be a little under, or right around $1000 at a quality body shop. To me, it is better to preserve OEM paint rather than have to plan for a repaint at some point in the future.... and then still have to deal with rock chips again after the repaint (unless you then decide to have a full wrap done).
Also, a full panel wrap is much cleaner looking than a partial wrap.

+1 on the full hood and fender wrap. IMO if you have a difficult color to paint match like Starfire Pearl, full coverage is a must. Like Zach said, rocks somehow how find themselves on the top of the hood and close to windshield. I've got a few spots on my ppf that have been dimpled bc of impacts in that area.
