Default Polishing Self Healing Paint

i just purchased some wax and sealants from Chemicals Guys.

Anyone have any issues with using wax or sealants on the self healing paint?

We don't have self healing paint. You can use those products on our car, do it all the time with great results. You'll want to use something first like a clay bar to get rid of contaminants out of the paint. Then you'll have a smooth/clean surface for the sealant and wax to stick to.

What products did you order from them?

If your looking to get scratches out Chemical Guys isn't really the best product. I have been detailing for some years and here is the best formula I have. (My ISF is black but will work on any color)

Car Wash - I use very and i mean very mild dish soap on the wash if I'm gonna do a full detail. Reason being, I wanna strip all the old wax off the.

Clay Bar - With the car still wet I dump out my mild dish soap water, rinse out my bucket, change my wash mitt and fill a fresh bucket of water and car soap. Sometimes i use my foam lance and Chemical Guys HoneyDew. I take my new clay bar out of its package and depending on what size it is (I use the Blue Clay Magic) cut a 1/4 of the clay bar off and kneed it into a hamburger shape. I then use my soapy car soap water to lubricate the clay bar instead of wasting clay lube or spray wax. I like to go lines as if I'm sanding and not circles. Be sure you have lots of suds on the car. If the clay bar is to dry and not lubricated enough you will scratch the car. (Especially on dark colors)

Correcting Compound - I like to use Meguiar's DA correcting compound with a 5" Meguiar's microfiber closed cell pad (Its thin) on my Griot's DA or Boss whichever you have. This will remove almost all of your scratches and certainly your swirls.

Finishing Compound - This is also a Maguiar's product and is recommended to use this after the correction compound as it get out the rest of the swirls and compound haze. This is done again with a Griot's DA or any Random Orbital you have and a finishing pad.

Seal - This is where I start using chemical guys. I use a finishing pad on my DA on a 2-3 speed and rub in Jet Seal.

Wax - Its always a good idea to throw a coat of wax over the Seal so that the seal isn't taking the hit from its environment all the time. For this I use Chemical Guys Butter Wet wax or my favorite which is Blacklite.

Final Clean - I go over the whole car with a spray wax of clean up any dust or way that may be left behind. For this i use Chemical Guys V07 Hybrid Seal.

Hope this helps! Its a bit excessive i know but I'm super picky. If you have any questions or need help feel free to pm me or respond to this.

Chemical guys isn't the best but its all about the steps you took to correct the paint.

After that pick a product and use it often to keep that effort evident. As long as you are using good microfiber towels and take the proper steps to avoid scratches when caring for the vehicle its should always pop like new with a nice wash and spray detail.

+1 with the CG comment.

Been detailing for years and found their products to be over rated.

OP: check out the chemical guys wash with wax. I use backfire wax on my car over the Meguiars 105 and 205 polishes. The wash with wax I really like from chemical guys though.

I've used a lot of things over the years, zaino, cg, etc. I keep coming back to meguiars gold class. Don't know why, but for the money seems like it gets you 95% of the way there and holds up pretty well.

I used Adam's paint correcting and finishing polish with a 6'' D/A machine. It came out decent.

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR USERS MANUAL.

If your car has a coat of self healing paint, you should NOT use any type of ABRASIVES.

If the wax or sealant has no abrasives, you'll be fine. With that said, use a sealant. They are x100 superior compared to waxes.
