Default Rainex? Aquapel? or what?

I've used rainex in the past, but it doesn't seem to work that long anymore.

What's everyone else using for windshield treatments?

In tests I've seen, the longest lasting glass coating was a silica-based coating (Gtechniq G5). However, Aquapel did extremely well, beating out many pricier and more difficult to apply glass coatings. It was so good that you might question whether the cost and effort of a G5 application was really worth it. Rain-X is used by people who don't know any better.

Some Lexus glass already has a Ti-SiO2 coating on it. https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...ter-Protection

The test I was referring to was actually a pretty old test. Also, I got the product wrong, it was Gtechniq G1, not G5. I was confused because I bought G1 for the cars, but G5 for the windows and shower doors in the house.

I have used Aquapel for many years on our vehicles and found that it lasts a very long time (year+) but they are garaged both at home and work. It works great!

Rain-X for me. It rarely rains here in Socal so I don't mind applying it once every 6 months. Plus I bought a bunch of bottles at clearance price so it was well worth it. If I lived in Seattle, then maybe it's worth spending on something more durable.

U did the windshield opticoat?! I thought it makes it blurry. There's opti lens for glass.

Im currently using relaod on my windshield. It does repel water well compared to rainx. I live in San Diego so it did not go through any serious testing haha

I'm going to be trying CarPro FlyBy30 Windshield & Glass Coating Full Kit (20ml). But only on the back windows as the windshield and front windows on my GS350 are already coated from the factory.

Aquapel or nothing..... Seriously don't even waste your time/money experimenting with other coatings. Tried them all, this is the only one that actually lasts. Had it on my daily for several months and all through the Chicago winter. Still beads water like the second I applied it. It withstood getting bombarded with bird droppings, many APC washes, months with being covered with salt and not being touched. Stuff is on a different level.
